The story is well done. The character development was good and I felt that I could see the characters, even like them. I liked the paranormal angle with more of a scientific eye. I'd read more by this author but the narrator was as flat as could be. There was no emotion or character in the telling of the story. It sounded like the reading of the minutes at a board meeting. He's not a bad reader but the lack of any emotion detracted from the storyline.

I like the sex scenes as much as the next person but the intensity and amount in this story was way too much too soon. There was not enough character development nor relationship development to justify it. The story was a good concept and was not boring but the sex became a distraction rather than an enhancement to the story.

Story was good and Molly Harper hits another out of the park. The problem I have with this book though is the male narrator. Just have Amanda Ronconi do the voices. It was very distracting listening to the two readers, doing both voices but in different chapters. Amanda is a lot more experienced and does a stellar job with her reading. The guy was just very flat in his reading. There was no emotion in the reading and when the two readers were compared, it seemed like two different stories. Maybe he just needs some more experience but the presentation was boring.

It began on New Year's Eve. The sickness came on suddenly, and spread quickly. The fear spread even faster. Within weeks, everything people counted on began to fail them. The electrical grid sputtered; law and government collapsed - and more than half of the world's population was decimated. Where there had been order, there was now chaos. And as the power of science and technology receded, magic rose up in its place. Some of it is good, like the witchcraft worked by Lana Bingham, practicing in the loft apartment she shares with her lover, Max.

I've read almost every book Nora has ever written. There are many great ones including the In Death Series, some okay but only a few that I just was too bored with to finish. This is one of those. It gets bogged down in post-apocalyptic life and the magical people that survived the plague. It had way too many characters that were not really that interesting. The romance was boring and I know how well Nora does romance. Not her best effort. I won't be reading any more of this series.

When Monster Hunter International's top hunter, Owen Zastava Pitt, was given a tip about some hunters who had gone missing in action, he didn't realize their rescue mission would snowball into the single biggest operation in MHI's history. Their men are being held prisoner in a horrific nightmare dimension, and the only way to reach them is through the radioactive ruins of a monster-infested war zone. As if that wasn't bad enough, it's also the home base of the powerful creature behind the devastating attacks on the Last Dragon and Copper Lake.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely I would recommend this book....heck the entire series.

Which character – as performed by Oliver Wyman – was your favorite?

Oliver Wyman is one of those readers who make the story so magnetic that you can't stop listening. My favorite character is Earl but his Franks is pretty good too.

Any additional comments?

Larry Correia writes great stories....but more than that, it is his characters that make it really interesting. They change and grow as the series goes on and you really want to find out how they develop. He makes the heros flawed and the bad guys a little bit..well if not good at least they are fleshed out and you can see them, sometimes understand them. His characters are why I will listen to the books over and over again...like a favorite movie. This latest one is no exception and he throws in enough twists that you really don't know sometimes where he's headed. A great ride...

Agent Franks of the U.S. Monster Control Bureau is a man of many parts - parts from other people, that is. Franks is nearly seven feet tall and all muscle. He's nearly indestructible. Plus he’s animated by a powerful alchemical substance and inhabited by a super-intelligent spirit more ancient than humanity itself. Good thing he’s on our side. More or less.

Where does Monster Hunter Nemesis rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I'd have to say 5th, just behind the first 4 in this series.

Any additional comments?

Larry Correia has created a world that is totally believable yet, one hopes some of these characters are not real. The most important feature of his writing is the character development. You really like them, know them, understand them and feel like you might have some things in common with them. I also give a lot of credit to Oliver Wyman for taking Larry's stories and giving the characters voices that are unique and create visuals in my head. Other readers want these stories made into movies, I just wish they'd listen to the audio. I've listened to all 5 books multiple times. There's a lot of information on firearms and weaponry, which I have never had experience with yet it seems appropriate to the stories and world he created. There's violence and killing but it doesn't seem like gratuitous plot additions. All in all, I enjoy Larry's world of monster hunters, would like to know them and want him to keep the stories coming. Great writing.

What would have made Under a Graveyard Sky better?

Giving the characters some real backstory that makes a reader care about what happens to them.

Any additional comments?

I'd heard a lot about his writing but must say I'm not impressed with this story. By the end I struggled to finish it. The characters were forgettable, self important and smart alek, in a not charming way. I might try one more book by him but I think maybe this author is riding on past success for new book sales. It's too bad, because I wanted to like his writing.

He especially wants to be left alone by the Guild of the Staff - the mage ruling body where he used to work as a fix-it man. But when a little kid gets nabbed by an ancient fae creature from the nether regions of Winter, and the Guild refuses to set things right, he just can't seem to heed good sense and leave things be.

What did you love best about Cold Hearted?

I like a hero who makes mistakes and isn't flawless.

What did you like best about this story?

Our hero doesn't want the limelight, knows his limitations and is realistic about the choices he made.

Have you listened to any of Charlie Kevin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No. At first I was annoyed by his narration but like the main character, he grew on me. Now I doubt anyone else could be Yancy's voice.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, I like to spread it out. Sometimes I replay some chapters as I go while trying to follow some of the more complex plot lines.

Any additional comments?

Pretty good read. Just got the next one and am looking forward to listening.
