Eric - or King Halar, or Vlad, or any number of aliases - doesn't want to be bothered. It's hard to pin down what he does want, if anything. He lives a quiet life, almost a solitary one, mourning in his own way for the loss of someone dear. His quiet solitude can't go on forever. Despite the empty places inside him, events and creatures move through the worlds and across the void between, forcing him into action, into fighting, into confronting things perhaps better left alone...even forcing him into being a King.

This story and narration is simply amazing. I thought there were some slow parts in the story, but anytime Sean Runnette is speaking it's good. These books are so long and involved, When you're finished it's like a friend going away for the summer, and I'm stuck wanting this story to keep going.

When the police are called to an affluent home in the middle of the night, they learn a seemingly normal 14-year-old boy has attacked his family. The boy exhibits signs of demonic possession, and even more troublingly, he knows too much about the Sweet 16 killings. Father Jason Crowder, a young priest assigned to the case, must marshal his courage in order to save the boy and the entire city from the forces of evil. But this is a darkness mankind has never encountered before. It craves more than blood. And it won’t rest until it possesses Father Crowder’s soul.

This book references how much of the happenings are like the movie The Exorcist, well it is. The biggest difference is the evil has more control and is much, much sneaker. At times this is a depraved book. Narration is perfect.

Gabriel Delling might call himself a professional con artist, but when walking superstitions start trying to bite his face off, his charm is shockingly unhelpful. It turns out living nightmares almost never appreciate a good joke. Together with a succubus who insists on constantly saving his life, Gabe desperately tries to survive a new reality that suddenly features demons, legends, and a giant locust named Dale - all of whom pretty much hate his guts. And when an ancient horror comes hunting for a spirit locked in his head, Gabe finds himself faced with the excruciating choice between death...or becoming some kind of freaking hero.

This book kind of slid under my radar, but turned out to be a great listen. The author did a fantastic job of just giving enough of a supernatural world without over doing it. One of best aspects is the main character seems to minutely change as the book progresses. Well written and narration was perfect, one of the few authors who reads his own work well.

Kal gets back in the game in a big way. Narration is perfect as usual, can't imagine anyone else for this series. My only complaint were the multiple perspectives. I don't think they always sound as good as they read. Several of the characters weren't main characters and I didn't find their perspectives as interesting. Having said that, this was a very entertaining listen and I will be happy when the next one is out.

Since this text is very old, there's not really anything "new", however, when considered exactly how old the concepts are and how they still seem fresh is mind boggling. Narration is spot on.

Narration is pretty solid, Baldree gave the story a noir feel, not sure if that was intentional or not. The overall story was just OK, a few more or longer chapters with magic and world building would have went a long way. Main character was likable, but just needed more. This is an easy listen and I think could be a really good series.
