Impressive as a contemporaneous story but written from the view of a journalist and not one versed in the needs of warfare in general and combat and command in specific.

This is a summary of The Selfish Gene, a reformulation of the theory of natural selection developed by Charles Darwin. This classic is focused on the nature of altruism and selfishness that creatures have. Despite that any living creature is focused on his well-being, the study reveals that they have a natural sense of altruism as well. Many creatures have a tendency of sacrificing themselves for their loved ones’ safety.

This is still spellbinding that opened the eyes to how the world really works for a generation. Very well written. Dawkins does not talk down to his audience but carefully and interestingly explains why Neo-Darwinism is THE explanation for why we are here with all the variety of creatures bacteria and viruses.
