I liked the original version better. The narrator for this version isn't as good. He isn't as able to bring the characters to life.

Anita Blake has the highest kill count of any vampire executioner in the country. She's a US marshal who can raise zombies with the best of them. But ever since she and master vampire Jean-Claude went public with their engagement, all she is to anyone and everyone is Jean-Claude’s fiancée.

I love Anita Blake. However, I was disappointed with this book. I know the relationship stuff needs to be sorted out, but it shouldn't take up a whole book! If this book had been about the case Anita was working it would probably have been a short story and not a full length novel. I hope the next one which I am about to read is better. I would miss my Anita Blake fix but, if it isn't it will be my last Anita Blake book.
