The only thing that bothered me was the music, so loud and distracting, no need for music in a book!!!

First time I read a story about an ex cop and ex CIA operative who is currently a private investigator that is too stupid for the role and cannot plan ahead of executing the plan! I was hoping to read s good book but I'm disappointed.

I didn't like Gina's personality, she isn't smart and she is weak when she needs to be the strong, confident, driven by gut feeling, alpha female, definitely does not represent a police woman!

And how unprofessional Gina is? Talking about her personal life and problems in the morning and having her supervisor in her bed at night?

First she works in children's unit then all of a sudden she is a detective investigating Debra's disappearance case?

And which police officer doesn't carry a gun when entering a suspect's house specially when he is as dangerous as she put it?

Why no one investigated the murdered whore's death?

Who's Ophelia that the pervert mentioned?

Clearly the writer has zero background with police procedure and didn't do her homework to know more before writing a series about a detective!

What does the book title have in common with the story? The next girl means he will be taking other girls?

I finished the book to see how it will end and regretted spending my money on it. For sure will not be buying the other book.

If there was lower rating than one I would give her.

I loved this book as much as I love the other Harlan Coben books. But the female narrator OMG what's wrong with her!!!! Why drag each word the way she did???? I was searching for other books she narrated to avoid listening to in the future because she cannot read like a normal person!

I don't recommend listening to it though!

The pause between the chapters was long and I kept wondering if I stopped the book and had to check from time to time. The narrator was over acting and Ben the British cannot be speaking just like the Americans.

The part when Jean was strangling Sarah, she was reading it as if she was reading a recipe from a cook book!

When Sarah "died", what did Ben do to find her? He accepted that she is dead and did nothing? There was no body, why he didn't search for her?

Overall I loved the book and would like to listen to more of Alex Lake if it wasn't the same narrator.

One thing was bugging me though, what about Tiffany's family? Didn't Melanie give them a closure?
I loved the book and thought that Glenn was Beth's attacker even though it made no sense sometimes. And after Chloe was arrested, I kept thinking of Glenn that he is guilty of something I'm sure. I'm happy with Melanie's decision to kill him but as I mentioned, what about the other family? and why she took the notebook when she wasn't going to notify the police?

I loved the book, it really did scare me. I was listening to the book alone in the house and it made me hear voices and imagine things.
One thing I didn't like was the other guy's performance, he gave me the idea that he was forced into this and he didn't want to read, but Imogen was amazing as always.
