This audiobook is built around Fred Edward's journals, sent home during his first tour in Vietnam in 1966-67. His own meticulous research fits his individual experiences into a larger context, through Postscripts, extensive notes, and a thorough historical chronology

To start with the narrator never bothered to learn how to pronounce the place names correctly.

The author had a plum job in country but tried to make himself out to be more than he was.

Not at all what I expected from a Marine officer.

This is the only book I am sending back for a refund.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Dick continually left things out, mispronounced Makin as Maykeen, said that Parris Island was in South California instead of South Carolina... and many more flubs. Didn't anyone "proof" the before publishing?

How did the narrator detract from the book?

His constant deviation from the actual written word ws jarring.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

He made a horrible book even worse! Way too much was spent by the author on background fluff weak science, not enough action...I could go on, but why bother?
