In November 2014, 13 members of the Biden family gathered on Nantucket for Thanksgiving, a tradition they had been celebrating for the past 40 years; it was the one constant in what had become a hectic, scrutinized, and overscheduled life. The Thanksgiving holiday was a much-needed respite, a time to connect, a time to reflect on what the year had brought, and what the future might hold. But this year felt different from all those that had come before.

While listening to Joe Biden’s narration of his personal story, I found myself occasionally laughing, often crying, and repeatedly impacted by countless phrases, comments and descriptions in the book. He speaks of faith, family, struggle and duty. The interview with Joe Biden at the end of the book is a valuable bonus track.

George W. Bush, the 43rd president of the United States, has authored a personal biography of his father, George H. W. Bush, the 41st president. Forty-three men have served as president of the United States. Countless books have been written about them. But never before has a president told the story of his father, another president, through his own eyes and in his own words. A unique and intimate biography, the book covers the entire scope of the elder President Bush’s life and career.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book's emphasis on family, family values and compassion over politics and political views. Hearing the voice of G.W. Bush, speaking about his father, George H.W. Bush, was very moving - as well as quite humorous at times! Gives great insight into an man, a family, and a presidency.

On January 15, 2009, the world witnessed a remarkable emergency landing when Captain "Sully" Sullenberger skillfully glided US Airways flight 1549 onto the Hudson River, saving the lives of all 155 passengers and crew. His cool actions not only averted tragedy but made him a hero and an inspiration worldwide. His story is now a major motion picture from director/producer Clint Eastwood and starring Tom Hanks, Laura Linney, and Aaron Eckhart.

Beautifully sensitive and real, the book takes the reader into the background and experience of Captain Sullenberger, both before and after the "Miracle on the Hudson". The last couple of chapters are read by him personally, which adds even more depth and sentiment to an already riveting story. Excellent read - looking forward to seeing the newly-released movie and see how it compares.
