For historical purposes Aslan does a fabulous job of capturing the atmosphere of the area in that time period. However, like many people trying to support their arguments, he takes the Bible as if it were moldable clay sculpturing it to his point of view and leaving out parts that don't support his point of view and trivializing important themes or narratives.

Aslan is quick to brag about his academic degrees and his expertise in historical subjects but he completely misses the mark on explaining who Jesus was and why he was sent to earth.

The best way I can explain this is to take Jesus and remove the Holy Spirit from him. What you have left is Jesus the man, the human. The problem with this concept if even Jesus as man alone you still have a human with out sin, love for all mankind and a group of followers willing and knowing that they will sacrifice their lives for his teachings and message.

If your a new Christian or have questions about the faith then this is NOT a good book for you. If you have a good foundation of the faith and a relationship with God then take it with a grain of salt and understand this is one persons Theory and Not Fact of Jesus.

This book was primarily a review of medical procedures and treatment of soldiers killed or wounded on the battlefield. Not really about the life of a soldier while on the battlefield.
