I found the narrative rather simple and uninteresting. I think , that as a twentieth century woman the problems were very boring. I have seem some updated videos and thought I would enjoy the entire novel. However, the introduction and music was very immature and left me the impression these stories were written for very immature person.
The performance overall was extremely immature.

A s a person of color, I found the story consistent with my understanding of southern life.
I am from the Midwest and I live through the World War II.
I found myself not identifying with any of the characters but as a reporter or an observer of the behaviors of the Caucasian and Negroid peoples in Mississippi in 1940s .
I was able to understand why my uncles who served in world war II we're so depressed after returning from duty.
I learned that keeping secrets can be cause spiritual death.
Finnally I am reminded once again that sneaking around can have deadly and a community crisis .

I have listed and read this book five times from beginning to the end. Although it is a combination of historical facts it also is woven throughout the narrative legends myths.
The writer of the novel helped me to understand scripture I have read because of the details of culture and historical over lay. Hope the reader of this review chooses to take the time to read his book and savor the love of the Lord God for you.

I have read the history of the Mayflower and the Plymouth colony.
The writer was faithful to the historical facts and in the telling created realistic characters

What I like the most was that as a 21st century person listening to the story I was spiritually encouraged by the inclusion of scripture throughout the retelling of the life of the 17th century people of Plymouth colony.

Hard to put down. This retelling of the little known history of the days of Israel after the time of the king's and prophets was engaging. I am going to read it again and share it with friends.
