From award-winning historian, war reporter, and author Damien Lewis ( Zero Six Bravo, Judy) comes the incredible true story of the top-secret "butcher-and-bolt" black ops units Prime Minister Winston Churchill assigned the task of stopping the unstoppable German war machine. Criminals, rogues, and survivalists, the brutal tactics and grit of these "deniables" would define a military unit the likes of which the world had never seen.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Seabiscuit was a runaway success, and Hillenbrand’s done it again with another true-life account about beating unbelievable odds. On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared....

My only regret is that I did not know of this book sooner. One of the best biography's I have ever read. The reader was also one of the finest. Compared to the movie, you get more of the truth of what happened after his return to the United States. I will now be searching YouTube for more of what I can find about this great man.

I have learned a lot about how politics works by reading this book. It was very well written. Too bad Crile doesn't have any other books on here.

With the sweep and vitality of a great novel, Pulitzer Prize-winning historian David McCullough presents the enthralling story of John Adams. This is history on a grand scale - an audiobook about politics, war, and social issues, but also about human nature, love, religious faith, virtue, ambition, friendship and betrayal, and the far-reaching consequences of noble ideas.

First off, don't give up on this book. It starts slow but then develops into one of the most interesting books I have ever read. I respect our founding fathers now more than ever and have learned an incredible amount of American history while enjoying one of the best stories about one of the greatest men of all time. It is only fitting that Tom Hanks is doing a HBO series on this book.
