The Earl of St. Merryn needs a woman. His intentions are purely practical - he simply wants someone sensible and suitably lovely to pose as his betrothed for a few weeks among polite society. He has his own agenda to pursue, and a false fiancée will keep the husband-hunters at bay while he goes about his business. The simplest solution is to hire a paid companion. Finding the right candidate proves more of a challenge than he expected.

My reviews of Amanda Quick are always the same! A twisted storyline that keeps you going on multiple story lines, read by a brilliant actor/narrator!
People ask my “why do you listen to books rather than read them?” After i give them my icy “really??” stare, I speak slowly “narrators bring them to life in a way that I can’t when I read a book”!!!!
Come on people, try it. Buy this book, put on your earphones and walk! You’ll be a convert. I promise! This book is fun, a little sexy, good writing and great voices from the amazing Bianca Amato - ever want to change your name?? I do, to Bianca Amato...
That’s all I can say about this book except I have gone a little Amanda Quick crazy.

What a great book to make you forget you are packing and finishing the laundry. I could not stop
Thinking about it while my iPods recharged! A really good story, narrated by Aoife McMahon - a first time narrator for me. She had me at the first paragraph. Emotion, characters, accents - she did it all while giving the story such respect and heart.
I was SO entertained by this book, I could not wait
to resume listening.
Summation - suspense, great story and an excellent narration are all wrapped together in the book.

I am going to start with the narration, because it is perfect! Several characters who Re brought to life by astute voicing. The emotion in Iphigenia (yes, really) hit the mark with every situation. Male voices were quite unique to each character with tone, accent and situational emotion. I had forgotten how much I enjoy Ms. Rosenblat, a true professional in the audible performing actor/readers.
Story - Amanda Quick tells a great story of properly indignant ladies and gentlemen who have found themselves living in Regency England, trying to solve clever mysteries AND capture their lives at the same time. Romance and intrigue work hand in hand with Ms. Quick making for a difficult-to-stop audible delight.

I read many reviews before I bought this book. One reviewer was not as enchanted with it as 90% of the readers or listeners had been. My opinion falls in line with that less-than-positive review. I felt it was long, twisted, tormented and sad. The resolution didn't feel good to me.

This is a love and loss story, placed in the deep south. The narration and dialect spoken by Jorjeana Marie was perfect. Her emotion in this story felt authentic and carried the story through any bumpy spots in the story. While it might have been predictable, the character development gave meat to the story. Johnathan McClain narrated the male character and he was very good also.

Excellent story! A true pleasure to listen to thanks to Angela Dawe. Ms. Dawe is a talented narrator, slipping into a Scottish brogue as easily as she slips into male or female voices. She has all the emotion one needs to act out a multidimensional play/ book. The writing of this book is done well. Characters are very well developed and the story unfolds very well. I liked it and will continue the series.

I enjoyed it. I'll look for more from Ms. Cooper. Also, the narration was done very well by the quartet of professionals.
