As an NHL player, relationships haven't been my thing. Shrouded in secrecy and speculation, they never last very long. But then that's what happens when you require an NDA before the first date. Until Charlene. She's like a firefly. She's elusive, and if you catch her she'll burn bright, but keeping her trapped dulls her fire and dims her beauty. I caught her. And as much as I might want to keep her, I'll never put the lid on her jar. Not at the risk of losing her. So I've let her set the rules in our relationship.

I am new to the Pucked Series, and I was HOOKED quickly by the Pucked Gang! I have binge-listened to all of the books in the series in the past 2 weeks, so unlike longtime fans, I did not have a long wait for Darren and Charlene's story. Sadly, I did not LOVE Pucked Love...and it pains me to say that, especially knowing that this is the final book of series (Tears!) I think I was so blown away by Lance's story in Pucked Off, and had crushed so hard on Randy & Lily's passionate relationship in Pucked Over/Pucked Under...this just fell a little short for me. Regardless, if you are a Pucked fan, this is a must-read!

Big Girl Panties by Stephanie Evanovich is a rollicking and poignant romantic comedy about a young widow who decides to get in shape...and winds up getting her groove back - and a whole lot more! Holly Brennan used food to comfort herself through her husband's illness and death. Now she's alone at age 32. And she weighs more than she ever has. When fate throws her in the path of Logan Montgomery, personal trainer to pro athletes, and he offers to train her, Holly concludes it must be a sign. Much as she dreads the thought of working out, Holly knows she needs to put on her big girl panties and see if she can sweat out some of her grief.

This book was sooo close to being great! I was quickly hooked on Holly and Logan’s characters (flaws and all), and was growing borderline obsessed with the storyline...right up until Logan’s friends Chase and Amanda entered the picture. That is when this story went off the rails for me, and never fully recovered. Chase and Amanda are introduced to us at a very big turning point in Holly and Logan’s relationship, and I was crushed that story then placed its focus on them. Full disclosure: I had read “The Sweet Spot”, which details Chase and Amanda’s story, prior to “Big Girl Panties”, which actually equates to a miracle that I would even give “Big Girl Panties” a shot given the awfulness that was “The Sweet Spot”). I would have preferred exploring Logan and Holly’s characters and story more fully. This was just so close to being a great story! (A side note: I was drawn to both of these Stephanie Evanovich books based upon my adoration of the narrator Katie Schorr—one of my absolute favorite Audiobook performers! “Big Girl Panties” was good when it could have been great, but definitely do not waste your time on “The Sweet Spot”.

Lucy Hutton has always been certain that the nice girl can get the corner office. She's charming and accommodating and prides herself on being loved by everyone at Bexley & Gamin. Everyone except for coldly efficient, impeccably attired, physically intimidating Joshua Templeman. And the feeling is mutual.

I adored every minute of this book!!! It is witty, romantic, and I found the story addictive—I couldn’t contain it to a commute-only listen. I sacrificed sleep (and pushed back a few work deadlines) to finish this in a couple of days time. There’s a definite slow burn that builds into a steamy hot payoff! Very well written, I found myself laughing out loud at the dialogue and smiling most of the time while listening. This book made me happy! I highly recommend The Hating Game—you’ll love Lucy and Josh! Really enjoyed the narration, as well. I will definitely be listening again.
