A Spell of Trouble
- Silver Hollow Paranormal Cozy Mystery Series, Book 1
- By: Leighann Dobbs, Traci Douglass
- Narrated by: Amy Rubinate
- Length: 5 hrs and 50 mins
When town troublemaker, Louella Drummond, drops dead in front of Isolde Quinn's pet store just minutes after threatening both Issy and her cousin Graeme, the police in the small lakeside town of Silver Hollow assume it's from natural causes. Until it's discovered that Louella was murdered. Not just any murder, though. Murder by paranormal means. Dark magic that could only have been performed by a powerful witch.
A cute story about witches in a small town

This story had potential to be a light, fanciful story. I wanted to like it, but have given up and will not finish it.
The narrator, while understandable and pleasant, pronounces words with extra emphasis on the ends of words, which is distracting and 12 chapters later, annoying. Ex- "wit-CHES".
As far as the story line, I find it disappointing. The sexual references are cheesy and actually distract - as if added at the end. I am not able to identify with the characters and the basic plot of the story jumps around. For these reasons, I give it a thumbs down.

Cute book... will listen to another
The story was enjoyable. I wanted a light story and it fit the bill.
While I found the narrators voice quality enjoyable, I wondered many times if she had read the story ahead of time. The tone of her voice did not fit the action several times and her sentences were choppy- which detracted from the storyline. I'm sure she's a fine narrator, but this performance could have used some fine tuning.
