At 6:00 a.m. on the morning of October 3, 2009, Combat Outpost Keating was viciously attacked by Taliban insurgents. The 53 U.S. troops, having been stationed at the bottom of three steep mountains, were severely outmanned by nearly 400 Taliban fighters. Though the Americans ultimately prevailed, their casualties made it one of the war's deadliest battles for U.S. forces. And after more than three years in that dangerous and vulnerable valley a mere 14 miles from the Pakistan border, the U.S. abandoned and bombed the camp.

I previously lived in ignorance when it came to our troops fighting. this was an incredibly eye opening book and made me appreciate our troops and what they and their families have sacrificed. This book kept me wanting more and was well written and well read.

This book is apparently written as a workbook, so strike one as an audiobook. I just couldn't see this being useful, I know I am an outlier based on the reviews but about the tenth time I heard kids should never be punished I had to give up. The world is based on some form of punishment, getting fired, jail, losing money, losing relationships. one its an effective teacher if done correctly, two how can we not let our children experience something that is a very real part of life.

bits were good, just couldn't get past some of the authors main beliefs so no participation trophy from me.

Feel what living in the United States was like for everyday people during this disruptive and uncertain period of American history in the newest Audible Original series. as someone whose parents weren't even alive during ww2 this book opened my eyes to some of the problems at home that I had just heard bits and pieces of from my grandmother. only complaint is it made me lose a lot of faith in humankind and our country at that time. guess its better to know what was really going on rather than depending on the rosy picture you get from most history books in school.
