Exciting start of a brand-new series by a contemporary romance fan favorite. After a devastating heartbreak three years ago, genealogist and historical village owner Nora Bradford has decided that burying her nose in her work and her books is far safer than romance in the here and now. Unlike Nora, former Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor recipient John Lawson is a modern-day man, usually 100% focused on the present.

I love this book and just finished it for the second time, this time I listened to it on Audible. I had forgotten exactly how much I loved this story. The narration was good. I liked how the narrator voiced most of the characters, with the exception of Corbin (a side character in this story who becomes a major character in book two).

When Persephone Lancaster receives a marriage proposal from the ill-tempered Duke of Kielder, she refuses - and then reconsiders. The obscene sum of money he's offering Persephone would save her family from ruin. With her characteristic optimism, she travels to the far reaches of Northumberland to wed a greatly feared stranger. Lodged deep in a thick forest infested with wild dogs, the Duke's castle is as cold and forbidding as the Duke himself, a man with terrible scars on his body and his soul.

This was such a fun, moving, and entertaining story to listen to. I loved listening as these characters married for convenience and worked to try to figure each other out. Sweet and clean story that I really enjoyed. I enjoyed the narrator and thought she did a good job of creating different voices for the characters.

After the tragic death of her husband, Aven Norgaard is beckoned to give up her life in Norway to become a housekeeper in the rugged hills of nineteenth-century Appalachia. Upon arrival, she finds herself in the home of her late husband’s cousins—three brothers who make a living by brewing hard cider on their three-hundred-acre farm. Yet even as a stranger in a foreign land, Aven has hope to build a new life in this tight-knit family. But her unassuming beauty disrupts the bond between the brothers. The youngest two both desire her hand, and Aven is caught in the middle, unsure where—and whether—to offer her affection. While Haakon is bold and passionate, it is Thor who casts the greatest spell upon her. Though deaf, mute, and dependent on hard drink to cope with his silent pain, Thor possesses a sobering strength. As autumn ushers in the apple harvest, the rift between Thor and Haakon deepens and Aven faces a choice that risks hearts. Will two brothers’ longing for her quiet spirit tear apart a family? Can she find a tender belonging in this remote, rugged, and unfamiliar world?

I already knew that I loved this book, as I had read it before in its print edition. But, I am so glad that I also purchased the audiobook. The narrator did such a good job with the accents of these characters, from Aven's Irish brogue to the Virginia southern accents of the brothers. I also enjoyed her "narrator" voice as well. The entire feeling of the story was captured perfectly with this audiobook and it is definitely a favorite that I have listened to.

To most townsfolk, he's known simply as The Beast. Annabelle Beiler has little interest in gossip, but she's heard about Adam Herschberger's scars and his gruff, solitary ways. Though he sounds like a character from one of Belle's treasured books, the man is real and, it turns out, just as unreasonable as the rumors claim. When a buggy accident wipes out the last of her daed's money, forcing him to sell their farm, Adam buys it. Then he offers Belle a deal - marry him, and her family can keep their home.

I loved, loved, loved this sweet story! I listened to over half of it on audio book and the narration was really good. Then, I switched to reading it on ebook, as that was more convenient for me at the time, and I zoomed through the story, hardly able to set it down.

The growth from friends to a married couple to actual attraction and love was beautifully and believably done. This marriage of convenience story was a sweet read and the relationship between Lyndsey and Shep was so wonderful. I also enjoyed that the little boy was believable in this novel.

This was my first book to read from this author and now I look forward to reading many more.
