In business, the right behaviors matter. But getting it right is tricky. Even when we acknowledge the need to change what we do and how we do it, life has a habit of getting in the way, upsetting even the best-laid plans. And just how do we manage those situations that can provoke even the most rational among us into behaving in ways we would rather forget?

Would you try another book from Marshall Goldsmith and Mark Reiter and/or Marshall Goldsmith?

Yes, but I would have to be in the mood.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

His voice just didn't grab my attention.

Any additional comments?

I listen to a lot of business and self-help books and I think this book was a victim of my listening to too many of that genre in a row. I'm hoping that in a few months I can revisit the book and its story and learn something.

Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

What did you love best about The Martian?

I listened to this book after I knew the movie was coming out and that Matt Damon had been cast. I think that even without picturing Matt Damon in my head that the reader would've kept my attention. The reader was fantastic and did a great job of bringing life to various characters through his voices.

What did you like best about this story?

Everything.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes! I wish I had started it on a Friday after work. I couldn't wait to finish the workday so I could listen to it some more.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I am going to Germany for the first time in 11 years in a month and needed a good audio program to keep my attention for the next month and something that would maximize my learning. I'm always on the go so sitting down and studying a book wasn't an option. I am addicted to this learning program! It is amazing how easy Paul Noble makes learning German. He applies common sense techniques that I wish my HS and College German teachers applied. I haven't spoken the language in more than a decade and wasn't that good at it to begin with, so I feel like I'm starting fresh, and Paul's technique is making it very easy for me to learn. I'm learning things I never learned before. I have never looked more forward to listening to a language 'CD'. I can't wait to 'hear' what the rest of the book has in store for me!
