For Logan Anderson, moving on from a traumatic past means moving back to his hometown of Castle Rock, Colorado, to start a personal-security business with his brothers. But it's not long before Logan runs into Grace Mason, his best friend from high school...and the woman who never answered his letters during his Army years. Grace was pleasantly surprised to see Logan return to Castle Rock, despite their falling-out ten years ago. Everyone always assumed they would end up together, including Grace.

Okay- this is going to be harsh, only because the author did little to no work on law enforcement research.

Question: what do you do if you find your friend being held captive and chained up by her parents? 911, right? Not in this disaster.

Question: what do you do if your friend was drugged and kidnapped by her parents? 911, right? Not in this story.

Key players were in their late 20’s- 30’s. Dialogue was far from the scholarly life they all led. This story revolves around three brothers who start a security agency and yet they always leave the victim alone???

This book, IMO, was left with so many holes it just didn’t make ANY sense at all. You can’t even pass this off as a young adult as a soft plot for young ppl. It’s incredibly immature with character development, story line, dialogue and there’s a point in this book where a character pops up as if she’s been in the story the entire time, I had no clue what she was doing in the chapters that she was planted in. Conversation are are are are repetitive and have nothing to do with anything.

After 10 yrs, two friends meet up, the very next day after a five minute conversation ( no embellishment) the night before... they’re soul mates.🙄

Harsh, yeah. Only because the writer, editor and publisher probably never even read this book, if they had they’d be embarrassed.

Mental and physical abuse is a real problem in this world. There are thousands and thousands of articles, sources and cases to research. There are police procedures in effect in this world to protect victims. None of that was done, and I’m really offended and disgusted by this publication. Dear literature world, do better or stop it!

The Bodine ranch and resort in western Montana is a family business, an idyllic spot for vacationers. A little over thirty thousand acres and home to four generations, it's kept running by Bodine Longbow with the help of a large staff, including new hire Callen Skinner. There was another member of the family once: Bodine's aunt, Alice, who ran off before Bodine was born. She never returned, and the Longbows don't talk about her much. The younger ones, who never met her, quietly presume she's dead.

I’ve been a fan for a couple of decades. I liked this book, I didn’t love it but it held my attention.

However, I’ve always found it frustrating with a Nora Roberts book that they all just end. The epilogue is always skimpy and wanting. When you listen to a book for 18 hours, you kind of want more than ... and they lived happily ever after.

As always I’ll continue to read/listen to Ms. Roberts and of course my very favorite, J.D. Robb.

Would you try another book from Louise Bay and/or Andi Arndt and Sebastian York ?

Yes, of course. This was an okay story but an okay listen because of the narrators.

What do you think your next listen will be?

It’s really annoying when you want to leave a review, but audible prevents you from what you want to write with the questions they pick! It also wastes my time.I’ll read another book by the same or different author is my answer to this stupid question by audible.

Any additional comments?

Listen, this is an okay book but nothing to waste a credit on. I’d recommend that you wait for a sale to listen. The problem is that the chemistry with the two leads is absent and underwhelming. It could have been great if the lead female character wasn’t so self absorbed. I just didn’t find her interesting enough that to have a famous gorgeous movie star to fall in love with. She was really boring and ridiculously self absorbed. I just didn’t get it or feel it. If these narrators weren’t attached, I’d probably have returned the book.

Virgil knows the town of Trippton, Minnesota, a little too well. A few years back, he investigated the corrupt - and, as it turned out, homicidal - local school board, and now the town's back in view with more alarming news: A woman's been found dead, frozen in a block of ice. There's a possibility that it might be connected to a high school class of 20 years ago that has a midwinter reunion coming up, and so, wrapping his coat a little tighter, Virgil begins to dig into 20 years' worth of traumas, feuds, and bad blood.

Would you try another book from John Sandford and/or Eric Conger?
Of course! I love this author. I think his history of best sellers has entertained me for years.
Eric Conger has a strong wonderful voice that has a real feel for a detective.

My problem with this book and a few that came before this is that Mr. Sanford has started the go on and on in description with the most inane unimportant or even uninteresting things. I think a little more action in his books would compliment the story more, John Sanford used to write a great chase scene or something funny and quirky. It was fun.

Virgil Flowers is the hero in the book, he’s smart and headed towards forty, but the feel of the character is like he’d ready for retirement home. Boring.

Would you ever listen to anything by John Sandford again?
That’s a definite yes. I don’t give up on great authors because I’m not overwhelmed by one book. I know there will be more books and I’m eager to try them out. ✌️

What three words best describe Eric Conger’s voice?
Strong, sexy, MASCULINE!

If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Probably not. The book is ALWAYS better than the movie and this book and I weren’t a great match. Sorry.

Any additional comments?
Can’t wait for another ‘Prey’ book. That’s the series I actually fell in love with. Virgil Flowers series is a spin off.

If you could sum up The Hookup in three words, what would they be?

YAY YAY YAY!

I loved this from the first paragraph to the very last word of the epilogue.

Who’s the guy in this book?
“I’m Johnny. Gamble. I’m Johnny Gamble”. 😛 oh my.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Hookup?

1.The morning after breakfast. It was special and they both new it, but each were wondering if it was just as special for the other as well.
2. The way Johnny took care of Izzy’s sister with the smallest things that meant so much.
3. How the town was so excited about Izzy getting Johnny to be the man he once was.
4. Izzy Izzy and more Izzy. The way she loved her home, her animals and her loyalty to family and friends.

What does Lance Greenfield and Stella Bloom bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Perfection! I couldn’t ask for a better match off these two wonderful voices to pair up as Johnny & Izzy.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

It’s that One night that lasts forever.❤️

Any additional comments?

I’m a huge fan of Kristen Ashley but not obsessed. I’ve loved most of her books but not so much of some others. I’m a sucker for a happy ending but I need some clever writing and realism in a book to be invested. I was 100% invested in the very first chapter. It just pulls at you. Thanks for reading my review.✌️

What would have made Obsession better?

Slight spoilers *********What would I do different? I would rewrite the entire female lead character in this entire story. She is so so stupid for a so called attorney. She blamed her man for beating up her ex stalker fiancé who was actually trespassing and wouldn’t leave but became threatening, then she became the prosecutor in the case because she needed a job. So now she’s prosecuting her current love over the ex ... because she needed the job. (She’s not a poor) She put herself in any position that would make her the damsel but when rescued she would get mad. No really, this is the story on the pages of this book.

Would you ever listen to anything by Helen Hardt again?

I think this author is trying very hard to make an erotica story line relevant, that she forgot a stupid woman is just so not sexy. A whining woman is so annoying. No, I don’t believe I’ll purchase her books. Very low level of imagination, no real scruples as to why ppl were doing and saying the ridiculous things that they were doing in this story. You can’t have a strong woman be the weak stop woman in the same scenes that were written here. I’m a little annoyed and embarrassed.

Which scene was your favorite?

I finished listening to this to hear Sebastian York while I tried to fall asleep. I got right to sleep every time.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Obsession?

I would have cut the dialogue all together, it was so immature for men that were turning into their forty’s. I would again replace the lead heroine all together. I would cut out the entire chapter when Jade goes to dinner with the ex fiancé when she’s prosecuting her current boyfriend the next day for beating him up because he was stalking her. I mean ... seriously woman, get a clue.

Any additional comments?

Neva Navarre and Sabastian York did very well with the material they were given. This is a harsh review, but I think it’s time for women to set higher standards for other women even if it’s just fictional story telling. This was really degrading thinking any woman would find this story the least bit romantic.

What would have made Black Widow better?
This is the 12th book in this series and I love the writing, Jennifer Estep is a great writer with characters and descriptions but it's the 12th book in the series and it's the same book from the beginning with slight changes in plot.

Has Black Widow turned you off from other books in this genre?
Well, let me put it to you this way: when I start a series, it's to find out what happens next and usually, I m excited for the next book. This book took me a year to download because the last few have been uneventful. I'm hardly chomping at the bit for the next book. So I m eager to listen to other series before I start the next book. I'll save the next one when there's nothing on my list to read first.

What three words best describe Lauren Fortgang’s performance?
Perfect, engrossing and destined!

What character would you cut from Black Widow?
The cop sister is starting to annoy me. She can go, I won't mind.

Any additional comments?
It's time to get started on an outline of where this series is headed. It can't keep up with the same song and dance in each book, the author will lose her audience.
