It's just another day of high school for Zack Lightman. He's daydreaming through another boring math class, with just one more month to go until graduation and freedom - if he can make it that long without getting suspended again. Then he glances out his classroom window and spots the flying saucer.

Everything about Armada feels like it's rushed, like a green lit sequel that the studio has no real plan for but is breathless to make due to the unexpected success of a property. If you're expecting a RPO sequel, stop expecting, if you're hoping for something that happens in the same general universe, get over that idea too. I wholeheartedly agree with other criticisms that while the pop culture references that pepper RPO are key to its story in Armada they are thrown at the reader, and thrown hard. If I didn't know this book was written by Cline I'd assume it was written by someone trying to ape his style, and doing a bad job of it. Overall Armada just feels more like a promising rough draft than any kind of finished product. (All that being said, I look forward to the next Cline novel)

Newly appointed CIA director Dr. Irene Kennedy is the target of an inside plot to destroy her and prematurely end the American President's term. To make matters worse, Saddam Hussein is close to entering the nuclear arms race - something Israel has vowed to stop. With the haunting specter of World War III looming, the president calls on his secret weapon: top counter-terrorism operative Mitch Rapp. But with only two weeks to take out the nukes, Rapp is up against a ticking clock - and impossible odds.

When you get past the first two thirds of the book (where every line of dialogue is either screamed or delivered in a pathetic whine) you get treated to the readers idea of nuance which generally equates to lines you cannot hear at all (which is as close as he gets to subtlety or inflection) or accents that drift and waver all over the place. Good novel, good story, terrible delivery.

Before Liz Lemon, before "Weekend Update," before "Sarah Palin," Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: a recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true. At last, Tina Fey's story can be told....

A well written, entertaining, and thoughtful autobiography is only improved when read by the talented writer, and this is a prime example. Thank you Tina, I enjoyed this thoroughly!

The narrators accents are muddled at best, perhaps on purpose, perhaps by accident, but it can make him difficult to follow at times. That being said it won't prevent me from getting other books in the series. I only wish they had produced an unabridged collection.
