After traveling through time in Shadow of Night, the second book in Deborah Harkness's enchanting series, historian and witch Diana Bishop and vampire scientist Matthew Clairmont return to the present to face new crises and old enemies. At Matthew's ancestral home at Sept-Tours, they reunite with the cast of characters from A Discovery of Witches - with one significant exception. But the real threat to their future has yet to be revealed, and when it is, the search for Ashmole 782 and its missing pages takes on even more urgency.

There was nothing in this I️ disliked except the music at the beginning and end of the 3rd book. It distracts from the narration. More so in the beginning because it is too loud. There is not a lengthy retelling of events from the previous books and the are no explicit sex scenes. It is a wonderful love story with all the other worldly twists for those who love these kinds of tales.
Jenifer arketta’s narration is as varied and soothing as in other books I️ have listened to her narrate. I️ spend long hours in my car and this was a perfect series for those drives.

I only made it thru the 1st story in this book. The narrators voice is grating on the nerves and even when she try's to sound differently everything comes out sounding like a sneer. I bought this book thinking it was 5.5 (a novella) in the immortal guardians series, but never made thru the short stories to find it. Worst of all the first story wasn't even good and the 2nd one was starting out to be just as disappointing
