I liked the idea of this book but it is so full of itself that the actual information is buried in 4 hours of stories. save your money and just go to slimbydesign.com.

I really enjoyed this book, but be warned. It is not a sify fantasy thriller so much as it is a veiled romance novel. The book is great don't get me wrong, but it is full of vivid sex scenes. Not that that is a bad thing, but just not what I was looking for when I bought it.

I admit that I'm probably more than a little bias in this review. I have been with this series from the beginning. I loved the parts with Rorin. It really shows how the acts of normal people can make a difference in the world.

I promised myself I would not write this until I finished the book so I could be fair. I bought this because it got so many good reviews everywhere. After the first hour though I had a completely different impression than apparently 98% of the readers. The book is so boring end elongated that it is so painful to get through. The story is told between 3 view points and each one tells parts of the other's story; many parts.

The other problem is that the woman who voices Ow Mame is so dry. Here pronunciation is perfect but her speech is so dry it is almost maddening. I would love to hear more from the guy who read Ichikawa though. Especially a crime novel.

I guess I am not this books prime audience, but I picked it up from a friends recommendation and honestly I don't get what everyone sees in it. The main character never grows by the end of the book. She is supremely stuck in whatever state she started in; not trusting anyone. What kills me the most is that she had so many opportunities to have a meaningful relationship with almost all the characters but she chose not to.

The hunger games themselves are a little lackluster. They outline these rules and it all boils down to a lottery to see if you will have to fight to the death. After that there is a whole system for gifts to the players, or tributes in this case. The whole thing seems mildly underwhelming for a society as advanced as the "capital" who you get the impression has total power over everyone, but rarely exercises that power.

There were some nice moments in this book, but all in all I don't think that it deserves all the praise it gets. Honestly at the end of the book I felt a little jipped that I had to waste a credit on it.
