Audiobook narrator Peter Larson and his wife Hannah head to his hometown of Maple City to help Peter's ailing father and to put a recent tragedy behind them. Though the small, Midwestern town seems like the idyllic place to start afresh, Peter and Hannah will soon learn that evil currents flow beneath its surface. They move into an old farmhouse on the outskirts of town - a house purchased by Peter's father at auction and kept secret until now - and start to settle into their new life. But as Peter sets up his recording studio in a small basement room, disturbing things begin to occur.

When Peter Larson was very young his father Bill, was not a very easy person to live with. He worked nights and needed sleep. His Mother worked days. Hard as he tried to keep quiet, Peter was abused constantly and even locked in a cellar room on many occasions. As he grew older his Dad and he became a little closer and developed a sorta Father Son relationship. Just the same when Peter later married, he and his Wife, Hannah moved East to live.

Peter received a call from the Bank's Secretary, who held the deed to his father's house. The Banker Mr. Moots wish to speak with him regarding the disposition of the house. She told him his Father was taken to a Senior Citizen's Home, had a large house and it was available for immediate occupation. Mr. Moots the Banker, would like to meet with him to discuss matters regarding his Father's estate.

That was when Peter first learned his parents being in their late years and unable to take care of each other were now living at Applegates, Senior Citizens Home. His Dad had made arrangements for Peter's Mom when she developed Dementia, because he found he could not give her the proper care she required. Later on when he lost control of his facilities and went berserk one day, a ambulance had taken him away to Applegate Home and He joined his Wife in the same room as her. He made these arrangements himself prior. The House was vacant now.

Peter and Hannah having loss their young Son Michael, were having a hard time dealing with it. Hannah and he sold out, packed up and headed back to his hometown to meet with Mr. Moots. This would be a new beginning and hopped it would help with their loss. Peter and Hannah had driven since early AM, across country back to the small home town, Maple City, out Mid West.

Upon their arrival the a small town was in worst shape than Peter remembered. The House needed some work, the inside was no better. In the kitchen he observed the complete refrigerator contents left lying on the kitchen table and counters (how long, he didn't know), a disgusting stinch, spread spread about were decomposing food. They detached car from the truck and drove into town. They went to a Dinner for dinner (how they could eat after what they just left is beyond me), but they sat and ordered.

Later the Banker Mr. Moots, ran into them there, introduced himself and was invited to sit, they discussed business. Much to Peter's supprise, the bank wanted to sell the house, liquidate the assets so the bank could recooprotate it's lost. This threw a monkey wrench into their plans of occupancy. Peter told the Banker he had a box truck with everything they owned, parked at outside. Just what is he going to do now? He had spoken to a lady from office prior and She assured him all was fine for them to move in. Mr. Moots suggested Peter go see his Dad.

Peter and Hannah left the Dinner later and checked into a Hotel while he gathered his thoughts. He had to devise a plan, for they had sold their house and had nowhere to go.

Peter received a call the next day from Mr. Moots, trying respectively to make amends for his Secretary's blunder. Peter listened and found out his Dad had bought a farm at auction a few years back. He had rented it and it did good until the last tenants moved out. It had been vaccant for quiet sometime now, but would make a nice fixer-upper. He sent a Realtor out to meet Hannah and Peter. Upon arrival , they were taken back! The place was an old two story building which had appeared no have been built in the late twenties or early thirties and in great need of help, both outside and inside. However; it appeared solid, The Realtor told him he could rent it for $1.00 a month as long as he remained in it. Peter thought a Fixer-upper! A strong wind could have blown it over. The thought also ran through his mind, could things couldn't get any worse? It was just the opposite to Hannah. She absolutely loved it. She could Immagine all the possibilities the house had to offer.

They went to a Motel while the farm house was made liveable. While there Peter starting getting calls from his Editor. You see Peter was a Audible Book Narrator and he was far behind. This house was to have the cellar converted into a reading booth. That didn't work out too well, for the first draft he sent to his Editor, she called him and said she was sending it back. She wanted him to listen to it again. He did and the unexplainable noises, voices and ghostly sounds that came from his draft shocked him. That is not all that starting happening in his new home. He thought, what else can go wrong?

This is the first book I have read by this Aurthor, but I will not be looking for others. I hate unfavorable review's. I usually give favorable reviews and seldom deviate, but this story seemed to take forever to get on tract. I listened to the Audible version. Mr. Sorensen narrated it himself, didn't do that great of a job with changing character voices to match the genders of the characters speaking. I started to stop several times and return it, but gave him the benefit of a doubt. I wasted my time and money. Also, I was into chapter thirty four before it turned from a reality type story to a Paranormal, with only twelve chapters left to get to a plot. I was disappointed and can not recommend this Aurthor.

This is the second book in The House of Souls Series, by Ambrose Ibsen. Joseph and Melissa, his Wife had had found a old fixer-upper in a nice neighborhood, outside Detroit, Michigan. They had been living there now for a few weeks. Strange things were happening such as tall un-natural shadows in lighted areas, items crashing to the floor, hearing voices late at night and sounds comming from the walls, etc. His young Daughter, Megan, told him there was a tall thin man with a head like a big ball of cotton coming in her room at night. She calls him the cotton man.

Uncle Marcel who lives in Buffalo, received a call from his Nephew, Joseph early one morning very upset. He told his Uncle he was convinced his house was haunted. He asked his Uncle if he could come and investigate? Uncle Marcel was no stranger dealing with the paranormal. He and his late Wife Constance's, had worked together prior to her passing. Now the Doctor was retired, alone, without his love Constance, and investigation the paranormal. had become his pastime. He had visited other houses in the past, either explaining what the strange happenings were, by debunking them, or helping the ghost move on. He assured Joseph he would leave first thing in the morning, for he hadn't seen him in years and thought it might be a nice break.

Upon their arrival at the house, his Uncle looked it over. From the outside it was a two story, mid seventies, brick house located off the road in a fairly nice neighborhood, which was in need of repairs. It had remained vacant over forty years after the original owner's had passed.

It was purchased by a young single man about tend years ago as a fixer-upper. He had set up a web site with the intention to post videos of the renovation, in progress done by himself. He started work, but things didn't go right for him, (paranormal active began), so very shortly he ceased work, shut down the site and vacated the house.

To relieve the stress, Uncle Marcel sent Joseph and His family into town for a nice vacation at the finest resort hotel and began to make a plan to cleanse the house. His first night alone was far from quiet, but in the morning when Joseph called and asked him how things went? He wasn't going to share his experience from the night before with the family. They were already frightened and He needed to keep them calm, but he continued his exploration. He was determined to find a way to deal with this so call haunted house. Uncle Marcel told Joseph not to worry, for he would not leave until He uncovered the unwelcome guest on his home and helped them move on.

What the Dr. found out was more than He expected, but that didn't stop him. After all He wasn't alone, for he and Constance had started early in their marriage communicating, by writing nightly messages in a bedside journal. He wrote each night and read her answer in the morning. You see his work required his absence on frequent trips and late night working at his laboratory. This was his love Constance always being near and dear to him. Since her passing, he continued to write her notes each night before retiring. Each morning he would always find a reply back.

I really enjoyed this story as it met all my expectations for this Aurthor as before. Joe Hempel did a fantastic job in his narration as he has the nack for immersing one into the situation. To me it is the next best thing to actually watching a movie.

If you You love creepy, ghostly and paranormal stories, then this story fits the bill. I look forward to book 3. This is suitable for teens and above.

I have listened to two Berkley Street Audio Books, Book 1 & 2 and left reviews on them. Since I am a member of The Audio Book Club, I received a email from them. I was offered the opportunity to purchase this collection of all nine books, for just $20.00. That meant I could get the remaining seven books at a far better price than using my credits, thereby saving me seven credits and for less than I would have paid for each.

I really enjoyed Ron Ripply' s stories and especially, the narration, by Tom Bowers. That is not to mention many enjoyable hours of entertainment. I rather listen to him read him read than read myself. It isn't that I am lazy, it is he has this way of pulling You into the bowell's of the stories.

In book 1, he gives you and introduction as to who the main characters are and a vivid description of each as they come into play.. This Series features Shane Ryan a former Marine and his encounters with the toughest, brutal, paranormal monsters in each and every story. Believe me he has his work cut out for him and quitting is not a option. If You enjoy creepy, situations, ghostly creatures and want to feel you are in the middle of the action, then this is the series for you.

This is mature material for teens and above. If you have read or listen to any of Shane Ryan's storys, you won't be disappointed.

Also if you are lucky enough to get this package at this price, you can not review each story separately, because two stories are in one book. The series has to be reviewed at the end of the last book in general.

I am a fan of Darcy Coates and have been since the first book I listened to. In this story she did not disappoint me either. Here is the story of a young lady named Reme, giving three hour late night tours in a most noted haunted house in the state. Carrow Manson was built in the early nineteen hundreds, on a island, surrounded on three sides by the ocean, about a hour and a half from the nearest town. This was a weekly side job, as she was a self employed, Graphic Designer by day. Just the same Reme loved waiting outside in her dark costume set for the time period of the early 1900's, for added effect in the wee hours of a full moon, which lit up the grounds, quiet eerie, instead of at the front entrance door, for her guest. As they arrived in a van, and walk toward the old Gothic Style Manson, Reme loved greeting them on the front stairs where she then goes into her character's dramatic creepy act to entertain them. She has hosted right wealthy guest for three hours each night for the last two years in this well known house of horrors and tells them they might possibly see unwelcome spirits from the other side. Reme really puts on a horror scenario for them, which they show appreciation.

As I listened, I knew this was not going to be the complete story. Ms. Coates has a way of beefing up a story, springing surprises on one and after all it is a nine hour book. No spoilers by me. I love longer ghost stories rather than short ones, for, they allow me time late at night before going to bed, to lean back in my recliner, listen to them, relax and enjoy a good story.

Amanda Leigh Cobb does a excellent job of narration, even when the story involves several characters. She She has a amazing talent to change voice tones enough that even if she wouldn't state who was speaking, I still know who it is. Ms. Cobb describes the setting to make me feel like I am involved in the story. She is a asset to Ms. Darcy Coates stories.

I always look for Darcy Coates new books and when I find one, I download it with no hesitation. She has a unbelievable way of capturing one's attention. I have read more than a few and enjoyed them all. I look forward to the next story by these two ladies. As long as she writes good stories I will continue to enjoy purchase them.

This is suitable for teens and above. She does describe the Paranormal appearances quite vivid, but not too gory. After all it is a ghost story.

All in all she sure has a imagination. I have enjoyed the five I have listened to do far.

Credit is due for her Narritor, Riely Nordlinger, for you can have a well written book, but a lousy Narritaton the story is nlown. Believe me I have run into that situation before and returned a Audiobook. Bobbie needs to stick with her.

This is a ghost story, but nothing a teen couldn't deal with. Remember my top and start with book 1, The Ghost of Marlow House.

I just finished listing to a book released by Omarosa Manigault Newman. This lady met then, Mr. Donald Trump when he dabued his new TV show, The Apprentice in 2006. She had been chosen as one of the competers on this show.

At this time she is serving as Senior Official in The White House, where Donald Trump is now the President. She seemed to think she has the run of the house can come and go anywhere she wanted, including in and out of the Oval Office at will. Well! The President brought on General (Retired), John Kelley as the Chief of Staff and he set new rules in place that involved, all personnel desiring to speak to the President would go through him with a written request, stating such. This included calling him. This upset her and that started her defense against him. In late 2017, he called for a meeting with her to discuss serious Intergerity Violations. He said it could call for possible criminal charges. He told her that if she departed the White House Grounds without any problems, he would credit her with her time of service in The White House as appreciated for her service to her country. This didn't set right with Omsrosa and she asked to see the President, which her told her he would inform him after she left. Omarosa was furious (in her own words), but he said it wasn't open for discussion and left. She stated that he said she was in a rage and tried to run to the President, but the Secret Service ushered her off the grounds. She had been invited to the Christmas Party that night, but got into a shouting match with the General and disrupted the party, by turning over tables, chairs, etc as she was escorted out again, by the Secret Service, (this again is in her own words). She claimed nothing of the sort happened. She stated she left both places quietly and on her own.

Now she has it in for General Kelley and The President. This book is her first step. She will stop at nothing to bring President Trump and General Kelley down. She starts by going on many Liberial TV Shows as a guest to tell her story, informing many Magazines, News Papers, etc to do damge. She starts off witr appearance on the Apprentice and works her way back to the White House, bring up anything she can to destroy our President.

I believe Ms. Omarosa is Conceited, Racist, Self centered and Paronoid. All throughout this book I can not count the number of times she played the Race Card, braged about how great She is, even to the fact that when She mentions the college's and schools she attended, she has to state, all black schools.

I don't understand how she took a tape recorder with her everywhere she went and she states she recorded all conversations she had with everyone and even recorded meetings, again in her own words. Example was she taped her firing by General Kelley. Lord knows what else she recorded. Omarosa is a disgruntled former White House employee and a woman scorned.

This is a great for Liberials to read. They will delight that her quest is to do anything and say anything to destroy President Trump.

Note: I am not a strict Conservative. I am a Independent. I look for the candidate with the best platform. As of now that is President Trump.

This story starts off as two brothers, John and Jimmy has had their distillery located by the Feds The two had managed to escape. Now they had to find a new location farther away from town and far back off the main road in the desolate woods and rebuild. Little did they know what awaited them when they met Able..

This is Book 3, in The Berkley Series, featuring Shane Ryan, a retired marine.
Shane's grilfriend, Courtney had heard the locals talk about a old deserted mining town located but out of town off Hwy 111. The only problem Legend had it was a real ghost town, haunted by the many ghost, but the main one was the ghost of a very tall a strong ghost, Able Latham. It had been steered clear by the locals for years. It was almost completely gone, only mostly ruins remained, save a couple of buildings. One was the old General store and the other that was it was partially dilapidated church, but they both still stood. They decided that night they would go hiking the next day, If they could find the Town of Griswold.

Shane thought it was just folklore and besides he was a well known ghost hunter as a occupation, Courtney was excited and the stories didn't bother her at all. Shane was no stranger to ghost. If you have been following the series, you know he has tangled with many vicious ghost in his last two books, Squirrel Island and The Lighthouse are Book 1 & 2.

All I am going to say here is ifyou liked the first two books, then buckle up, for you haven't read/listen to the best of Ron Ripley. Shane's quest was to find Abel and take Him out. Him being a former marine, you know they never give up until the job is done.

Ron Ripley went beyond his usual method of writing technique in this story, that is for sure. There are so many charachetrs, both and ghost and living, that it is hard to keep up with them all. Of his books I have read so far, this is the best in my opinion.

I belive in giving credit where credit is due. Tom Bowers did a outstanding job of Naration in this story. He described every scene, outside, inside, the characters and most important of all his voice just captures you and I did want to put the book down, I had no choice, but I couldn't wait to get back. He made you feel as if you where there with Shane

There is one part at the end the I hated happened, but it did. Read the book , you will love it.I

This is not for the squeamish or children. It is mature . On to the next one in the series.

When best-selling horror author Sam McGarver is invited to spend Halloween night in one of the country's most infamous haunted houses, he reluctantly agrees. At least he won't be alone; joining him are three other masters of the macabre, writers who have helped shape modern horror. The entity they have awakened will follow them, torment them, threatening to make them a part of the bloody legacy of Kill Creek.

Yong Justin Wainwright had a idea. He was the Son of a Billionaire, so money way no object... He thought it would be a great to bring together four famed Horror Writer's, for individual interviews of their techniques, for writing noted #1 Best Seller Horror Books. To make it more interesting, he decided to do it on Halloween Night. He sent each a letter, by personal messenger, asking them to join him in his home to discuss the proposition. You see, Wainwright was a web site entrepreneur and his plan was to go live with the interviews. He thought it would be a great way to reintroduce those that had lost interest in this genre. He agreed to pay $4000.00 to each for their precipitation. They later found out at his meeting, the catch would be the interview would take place in a well noted haunted, old dilapidated farm house located at the end of Kill Creek Road with hardly a notable entrance from the highway, covered with tall grass, hanging limbs and vines on the trees, and of course, you have to have the rusted out wrought iron gate that was squeaky and hard to open. The house located at the end of Kill Creek Road, located by the creepy old dried up creek with twisted vines running in all directions, thus the name of the house, Kill Creek House.

Was this house indeed haunted, or had Moms told their children that just to scare them away to prevent their injury due to it's deterioration?

Not revealing anything to give away the plot, I will just say, this story is filled with enough spine tingling chills to keep you awake a night glued to its pages, or in my case, since I like to listen to good books, not wanting to put it down. I will say for this to be his first solo story, Scott Thomas did a great job of writing a Novel to hold ones attention. I will try another one of his books and see if he hold true to this one. Keep up the good work Mr. Thomas, I have added you to my list of Authors to follow..

Lets give credit where credit is due. Bernard S. Clark did an outstanding job being very descriptive and bringing the characters to life, which enhanced the book.by making you feel you were in the house. I recommend this Novel for mature reading, etc.
