Not a rinse and repeat series. Each book builds on the story and new plot elements continue to be added. The author has tremendous creativity and has written one of the best series I have heard. Now that the story has ended, I will miss the dungeon with his sarcastic wit and creative evil ways.

Due to the confusion, I keep promising myself that I will stop listening to time travel books. This one was different because I did not get lost in time nor need the author’s cell number to call for help with the plot. Bottom line, a military, mystery book that keeps revealing new clues and kept me unbalanced. Worth my time.

More than two centuries after World War III poisoned the planet, the final bastion of humanity lives on massive airships circling the globe in search of a habitable area to call home. Aging and outdated, most of the ships plummeted back to Earth long ago. The only thing keeping the two surviving lifeboats in the sky are Hell Divers - men and women who risk their lives by diving to the surface to scavenge for parts the ships desperately need.

While I am not a fan of dystopia, this was an entertaining book. The main character is a brooding alcoholic with intimacy issues and is angry that a previous generation nuked earth into an uninhabitable planet. He lives on an airship with ~ 500 others who are searching for a place that can support life. To keep the airship afloat, the main character and his team skydive to the surface for spare parts, and as should be expected, life evolved on the planet. Also to be expected, the new life enjoys eating humans. I don’t want to give out any more spoilers, but dystopia books rarely end with the phrase “and they lived happily ever after”.

While it sounds ridiculous, Knights riding dragons to fight demons who are “hell bent” on killing all humans, I agree with other reviewers that this is an excellent Audible book. It is a coming of age tale that focuses on a young mage and his two friends, a knight and an archer. The demons are totally evil and enjoy capturing cities with the purpose of turning all the humans into undead armies. While the book is long, it is a complete story (no cliffhanger leading to books 2 or 3) which adds to the customer satisfaction.

It was supposed to be an easy job: find the Dark Star Revolution Starships, destroy them, and go home. But a booby-trapped vessel decimates the Meridian Alliance fleet, leaving Serengeti - a Valkyrie class warship with a sentient AI brain - on her own, wrecked and abandoned in an empty expanse of space. On the edge of total failure, Serengeti thinks only of her crew. She herds the survivors into a lifeboat, intending to sling them into space. But the escape pod sticks in her belly, locking the cryogenically frozen crew inside.

The opening scene sets a dark tone for the book, but, within 5 minutes, different characters are introduced and the real story begins. The book is a creative mix of mystical powers and Elizabethan romance. I was fascinated by the unique fantasy elements and almost hurled every time the plot switched to affairs of the heart. But, continued to listen due to a fast paced storyline that pits self-sacrifice vs. greed.
