Six weeks since discovering the truth behind his family legacy, Sam Harlan has worked with Sister Callie Calahane to learn how to kill vampires, desperate to make them pay. The woman's voice on the answering machine was intriguing. “Jack, it's Mary Kate. I've got your newest order and.... I need to talk.” Jack Harlan, the legendary vampire killer, was Sam's distant relative, but Jack Harlan was dead. Sam had seen to it himself.

The Lambert Family is heading to Crescent Lake, a rural cabin community in Western Pennsylvania, for an idyllic weekend getaway. Some fishing, some barbecue, some games... The Fannelli brothers are heading to Crescent Lake, too. Some stalking, some kidnapping, some murder, definitely some games...though not necessarily the type of games the Lamberts had in mind. But it doesn't matter. The Lamberts are going to play whether they like it or not.

After reading the first book, I just had to read the second and third. They did NOT disappoint! The action, twists and turns of the storyline were amazing. I found myself flipping back and forth between rooting for the bad guys and rooting for the good guys. Narration was amazing, Gary Tiedemann brings the story to life like no other. Great job, Jeff menapace! This is a series I would love to see in the movies!

When Sorin, a cranky old soldier, barges in and decides to take over her life, Krea is less than enthused. Sure, he saved her from a brutal death at the hands of the guards, and he did stop decrepit faerie monsters from eating her. Refreshing story of hardship and discovery. Storms life was unimaginable. Beautiful story of self discovery and finding yourself.
Narration was done wonderfully as all characters were well established through his voice.
Some of the descriptive passages were overdrawn while others were left lacking. However, the story itself was captivating enough that those moments seemed fleeting.
