The year is 2039, and Los Angeles is poised between order and chaos. After the Collapse of 2028, a vast section of LA, now known as the Disincorporated Zone, was disowned by the civil authorities and became a de facto third world country within the borders of the city. Navigating the boundaries between DZ and LA proper is a tricky task, and there's no one better suited than eccentric private investigator Erasmus Keane.

I love the series. it's my favorite series ever. Sandman Slim is a Badass. But this book is so full of self pity and self loathing that the only reason I kept going is my loyalty to all the books that came before. I mean sandman slim ruled hell, he kills nightmares, but this book which is riddled with annoying liberal PC movement references, feels like the authors white male guilt manifesting itself. Sandman Slim should not have guilt. Sandman slim is punk rock, he's anti-establishment and anti authority. And he should be anti whatever the current # movement is. Thats punk rock. I do what I want because I'm badass, I'm here to have a good time and the rules are broken by me. Bring back the nightmare destroyer. Please.

The story was mildly interesting, it lacks a lot of the magic of the first book. It is also very hard to follow. I had to repeat many sections 3 or 4 times to make sure I understood enough to keep going.
