I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator. I can't wait for the next listen in this series. This book is a standalone listen.

Shadow of the Moon by Kwen Griffeth pulled me in immediately! I haven't listened to many shifter books, but this one gave a new perspective and is excellent. I loved how the author wrote the twists and unexpected events. Typically I listen to mysteries, thrillers, and romance and I found this book to be a perfect match for my preferences. The narration by Paul McSorley is outstanding! He gives the various characters distinguishable voices so I knew exactly who was speaking. He adds the right emotions and suspense to the book. This awesome collection by Melissa Monroe is wonderful. I love how each book is its own standalone listen and has vivid imagery and how the characters build from one book to the next. Fangs and Fondant is the first book in this collection, and I had previously listened to it before listening to it again in this collection. I must say that it is even better the second time around for details I missed. A Bite of Blueberry is book 2, Blood in the Batter is book 3 and Holy Crepes is book 4. I'm not certain if I have a favorite of the series or not, as each one is so good. Its awesome how the author is able to write original stories that keeps one guessing at who the bad guy is and has great humor too. The twists are wonderful! Cindy Kay performs the book flawlessly. She adds the right emotions and expressions to this listen. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I love this short story collection by Lauren Carr. I had previously read several of them, but think they fit this short story book so well. I so enjoy the books featuring Gnarly and Mac Faraday along with Chris Matheson and his motley crew of animals and Joshua Thornton/Cameron Gates with their pets as well. Each story in this book is a standalone that brings more dimension to the characters that I have grown to love. The author has a great way of writing humor into the books along with vivid imagery. Each story has some very unexpected twists and I love how the criminal is revealed. I so enjoy it when the villain is not obvious. Of this collection, I do not have a favorite story because each is so good, but I am partial to the Mac Faraday stories as that is the character that led me to discovering the author Lauren Carr. I am definitely hooked on reading more from this author. I highly recommend this book to discover more about some favorite characters in various series. Listening to this collection, I thought that Mike Alger did a wonderful performance. He has the perfect voice inflections for these stories and adds to the enjoyment. It’s a bittersweet reunion for Mac Faraday when members of his former homicide squad arrive at the Spencer Inn. While it is sweet to attend the wedding of the daughter of a former colleague, it is a bitter reminder that the mother of the bride had been the victim of a double homicide on her own wedding night. The brutal slaying weighing heavy on his mind, Mac is anxious to explore every possibility for a break in the cold case - even a suggestion from disgraced former detective Louis Gannon that one of their former colleagues was the killer.

Mike Alger did a great performance with this book. He has distinguished voices for the various characters, and delivers the humor in a wonderful manner. This book fits its title with bringing to light a cold case from 16 years ago. I loved how the author brought suspects to light and then eliminated them. I had not guessed who the real killer was! This book is both a standalone listen and part of a series. Besides the cold case in this story, there are several other stories going on that entwine to make this one full book. Having characters from other series by this author also is a huge plus, as they are all related to law enforcement and have endearing characteristics. I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily written this review. I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator.
