This was the worst book I've listened to in a very long time. The characters and dialogue were cliche and underdeveloped. Tanner, the male main character, was totally unlikeable. The dialogue was stiff, hokey and overly dramatic, and the narrator was just awful. Her male voice made every guy sound the same and sound like an 80 year old. I struggled to finish. The first book in the series was terrible and I thought it would get better but it's only gotten progressively worse. I can't listen to anymore!

I listened to this book when it first came out 17 years ago. I enjoyed it then and I enjoyed it now. It's more of a romantic comedy with a mystery twist that is more reminiscent of the era in which it was written than the explicit, soft porn romance novels of today. Those that didn't like it are looking for something else and are being a bit unfair to the author and narrator, I think. I love this series with its quirky characters, funny dialogue, and cute romance scenes!

A sweet story. I loved the way the author wove the prior stories into this one to connect everything. However, maybe it was just me but the main characters were a little bit younger in this story than they were in the prior novels. Also, the dad came off as a nicer person in this book than he did in the prior books. I know it made for a more romantic story but it wasn't true to the characters. There were times that it was difficult to tell the difference between the voice of the main characters but overall the narrated did a good job.

The Bodine ranch and resort in western Montana is a family business, an idyllic spot for vacationers. A little over thirty thousand acres and home to four generations, it's kept running by Bodine Longbow with the help of a large staff, including new hire Callen Skinner. There was another member of the family once: Bodine's aunt, Alice, who ran off before Bodine was born. She never returned, and the Longbows don't talk about her much. The younger ones, who never met her, quietly presume she's dead.

While the content was sad this book was some of the best writing I've read from Nora in a long time. For awhile now, the plots in her books have been cookie cutter and predictable. This one had all that you expect from Nora - well developed characters and plot, romance, suspense, mystery, family AND a different type of story. Even though I knew who the villain (at least one) was early on (I've read all of her books after all), I was still surprised by how the story developed and couldn't stop listening until I finished. Bravo, Nora!
