In Minatsol, being a dweller means that you are literally no better than dirt. In fact, dirt might actually be more useful than Willa. Her life will be one of servitude to the sols, the magic-blessed beings who could one day be chosen to become gods. At least her outer village is far removed from the cities of the sols, and she won't ever be forced to present herself to them... Until one small mistake changes everything, and Willa is awarded a position to serve at Blesswood, the top sol academy in the world - a position that she definitely did not earn.

Loved the brothers and the main character. Loved her running dialogue with herself. Honestly hilarious. Listened to this book at the end of a road trip and my family didn't get me back until I finished the book since the Drive ended before the book πŸ˜‚

Only downside is that I am discovering this book 1 with no more available and I'm pouting about it. Wish audible had a way to earmark a series anticipating more books πŸ“š

I'm usually a little worn out when I finish the second book in a trilogy. THIS STORY IS AWESOME. Only complaint is that audio doesn't have the third installment yet. I have never emailed an author but I'm off to appeal for the third book.

I don't even know how to share how much I loved this book. Fabulous main character. Epic story contained in a single book... Kudos and praise to the author for telling a complete story without needing the boring middle book and then the great final book to finish the story. I listened to this and will be purchasing a hard copy. It is one for the library.

No one expects a princess to be brutal. And Lada Dragwlya likes it that way. Ever since she and her gentle younger brother, Radu, were wrenched from their homeland of Wallachia and abandoned by their father to be raised in the Ottoman courts, Lada has known that being ruthless is the key to survival. She and Radu are doomed to act as pawns in a vicious game, an unseen sword hovering over their every move. For the lineage that makes them special also makes them targets.

This is not a European fairytale. It is a glimpse into the Ottoman Empire and the lives of two abandoned royal children traded for political stability. Raised to choose brutality instead of fear, this story follows a brother , a sister, and the sultans son through their relationships, the politics of their time, and their own personal desires and aspirations

If you want a neatly packaged love story this book is not for you. But if you will let the authors story open new worlds and perspectives for you... You are in for a rare tale. Harsh without traumatizing the reader.

I'm glad to have read it. The story begged me to lay it down and take a break bc of the heart ache but I couldn't leave it alone.

It is a fabulous stand alone tale but I can see epic potential as a series. I just need some sugar and a nap before I can commit to more.

Remarkable subtle explanations are powerful and yet avoid being vulgar. I appreciated the depth of the relationships. Fascinating and powerful

I didn't know what to expect from this story. It is the kind of story that sounds like it has been told for generations and yet it is original. With just the right dash of creepiness and yet family friendly. Love the characters Felix is an instant love. No love triangle. Not a YA romance/porn novel. Just a really engaging story. I loved it. Bravo!!
