He taught me to kill. Murder is in my blood now. It runs through my veins and though I hide the monster I see in the mirror with ink, it doesn't keep him from coming out. My street name is Mercy, but I never show any. Except for her. I watch Becca, though she doesn't know. She saved me a long time ago; the day my father killed my mother. Her bravery turned her into a target. My father holds a grudge and knife with the same proficiency, and Becca is the focus of his hatred. And I'm the only monster who can save her.

The deep sadness I felt for the young Phoenix was painful. I ached for him and so many other children like him. It took a child to speak for this child. This is so depressing. We grow out of a child's sense of right and wrong and the courage to say something. I wish we didn't outgrow that honesty. As adults our fear of reprucussions, embarrassment and just plain apathy filter our perceptions and responses. Maybe it's time to care again. This story is a mixture of darkness and light and innocence and evil . It's not easy to listen to Not light listening, especially if you have children. Well worth it though. In fact, I got this through the romance package but I want a copy of my own so I'll also buy it. Zachary Webber is my new favorite narrator.

It started out like any other morning on the train - until I became mesmerized by the guy sitting across the aisle. He was barking at someone on his phone like he ruled the world. Who did the stuck-up suit think he was...God? Actually, he looked like a god. That was about it.

Stella Lane thinks math is the only thing that unites the universe. She comes up with algorithms to predict customer purchases - a job that has given her more money than she knows what to do with as well as way less experience in the dating department than the average 30-year-old. It doesn't help that she has Asperger's and that French kissing reminds her of a shark getting its teeth cleaned by pilot fish. She decides that she needs lots of practice - with a professional - which is why she hires escort Michael Phan.
