I'm listening to these as fast as they come out! I'm loving the stories of this vast Empire in space, long ago fallen, and now rising from the ashes.

If you've enjoyed Jerry Pournelle's Future History (The Mote in God's Eye, War World, and Falkenberg's Legion) you might enjoy these, too. They are a little lighter in tone that Pournelle's, but just as much fun.

Keep 'em coming!

As writers, we all know what an incredible tool dictation software can be. It enables us to write faster and avoid the dangers of RSI and a sedentary lifestyle. But many of us give up on dictating when we find we can't get the accuracy we need. This book changes all of that. With almost two decades of using Dragon software under his belt, Scott will reveal how to supercharge your writing and achieve sky-high recognition accuracy from the moment you start using the software.

This book really helped me to get on top of using Dragon to dictate my book. The software is great, but until you know HOW to set it up, you are wasting a lot of time and effort. Definitely worth the time and money to 'read' this book to get better at Dragon.

I would recommend you listen first, but also get the kindle book so you can get a good visual on where to click and where to find some of the options the author recommends. With Whispersync, it's a cheap addition to this version of the book.

I've really enjoyed this series. The narrator does an amazing job at bringing the characters to life and differentiating them.

I binge listened to books 2-4 this week because they are so much fun to read. Good old fashioned space opera with some military sci-fi and even a few space marines to round out the action. Good stuff!

I have purchased Mixon's books on my own, but I did get an advanced review copy of this audiobook at no charge in exchange for an honest review. I'd do it again, too. These books are fun!

Since taking over TED in the early 2000s, Chris Anderson has shown how carefully crafted short talks can be the key to unlocking empathy, stirring excitement, spreading knowledge, and promoting a shared dream. Done right, a talk can electrify a room and transform an audience's worldview. Done right, a talk is more powerful than anything in written form.

I want to give short, powerful talks for my clients and students, and this book lays out exactly how to do that, without forcing you into one method, style, or technique. It was a great learning experience.

The book is inspiring and actionable, although the 4 or 5 wrap up chapters at the end felt tacked on for the true fans of TED. I wish the altruistic, change the world stuff had been spread throughout, rather than closing the book. Near the end, I had clear, action steps to apply for my speaking, and these chapters took away the rush to apply what I'd just learned.

I highly recommend this book, but if you're reading this to speak better and give better talks, read these chapters first or save them for after your talk!

I enjoyed the book quite a bit. I enjoy this series and JF Penn's Arkane series because of how she mixes fiction with history. I learn a little something with each book. This time, it's about the history of London and it's seedier sides, and the way the politics and the church of the past both tolerated it and encouraged it. Fascinating stuff.

I enjoy the mixture of police work (or private detective work, in this case) with elements of the 'psychic world,' although I think the psychic elements by those other than Blake could have been foreshadowed a bit better in earlier books.

I feel like this book finally gives us a look at what makes Blake and Jamie attractive to each other and paints a better picture of them, physically and emotionally, for the reader.

Good stuff, overall, and I would certainly read a #4 down the road.

I received an advanced review copy of this book in return for writing an honest review.

Like many tools that have come before it, dictation is a new and exciting opportunity to write better, faster, and smarter. But many writers still believe it's not for them. Perhaps they've tried it in the past and it hasn't worked. Or perhaps this new technology is confusing, expensive, or frustrating, and that's held them back from taking advantage of it. If you're ready to take the next step and learn a new skill set that will give you a huge advantage over what other authors are doing today, listen to Dictate Your Book and start working through the challenges that are holding you back from reaping the benefits of dictation.

This is one of my first 'reads' in this genre, as I'm a bit squeamish, but I'm intrigued by stories that mix ancient, secret societies with modern day investigations. Mix in a bit of physic ability and you've got me.

I didn't think the voice of the narrator fit the main character at first, but that could be my own imagination rather than reality. The author chose her to read, so my guess is she's more right than I. Either way, she did a great job, and she grew on me. Now, I look forward to hearing her in the next one! (I hope she's in the next one, because I just bought it!).
