In spite of being ejected from Miss Bodycote's Female Academy in Canada, 12-year-old Flavia de Luce is excited to be sailing home to England. But instead of a joyous homecoming, she is greeted on the docks with unfortunate news: Her father has fallen ill, and a hospital visit will have to wait while he rests. But with Flavia's blasted sisters and insufferable cousin underfoot, Buckshaw now seems both too empty - and not empty enough.

Overall this was a big big disappointment. It lacked the power to engross the reader into the story. All of the other books in this series have been engaging and I looked forward to both the story and characters. I was so disappointed.

On the right side of the law. Sort of. Sebastian Rudd is not your typical street lawyer. He works out of a customized bulletproof van, complete with Wi-Fi, a bar, a small fridge, fine leather chairs, a hidden gun compartment, and a heavily armed driver. He has no firm, no partners, no associates, and only one employee: his driver, who's also his bodyguard, law clerk, confidant, and golf caddy.

What disappointed you about Rogue Lawyer?

This is one of the least favorites of Grisham's work. A sorta kinda take off on Lincoln Lawyer but nowhere nearly as good as the least enjoyable of that series. The story begins ok but descends into a choppy mess. I will recommend that my friends do not waste their time.

What was most disappointing about John Grisham’s story?

The lack of continuity.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment, is the word I choose because I had waited on this novel since it became available on the pre-order list. It was not up to my expectations at all. Boo!

I thought this was just another novel about self-absorbed women--boy was I wrong. The characters are much more complex and interesting than the first few chapters lead me to believe. It is well written and even when I'm disgusted with all the "me ness" it held my attention.
