Maya and Rebecca Ward are both accomplished physicians, but that's where the sisters' similarities end. As teenagers, they witnessed their parents' murder, but it was Rebecca who saved Maya from becoming another of the gunman's victims. The tragedy left Maya cautious and timid, settling for a sedate medical practice with her husband, Adam, while Rebecca became the risk taker.

I don't review very often but I felt compelled to warn others about this book. Please, please don't waste your time and your credit. The characters are not likeable the story is completely not believable and the whole thing is just ridiculous. I love Diane Chamberlain books, but this one left a lot to be desired.

I was interested in the premise of the book. For there to be an actual Underground Railroad is a very interesting concept. However, the story was very difficult to follow because you were constantly changing back and forth in time. Trying to maintain who was speaking in reference to what was confusing. It was just not as interesting as I'd hoped it would be.

it's not one of those stories that you can immediately place yourself in and think omg I can so see this happening to me and my friends. having said that, it does pull you in and you do begin to identify with the characters each of them differently. Of course the narrator is more likeable then his surrounding cast, I find. but together they make a group so dysfunctional, it's quite believable. A little twist at the end makes you say I did not see that coming. All in all, very interesting and enjoyable. a good listen

I know that's the character, but couldn't we softened her up just a smidge? Kirsten Potter was excellent as usual, but she wasn't enough on her own. The storyline was just okay, I don't think I would use the credit if I had it to do over again.

At 22, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. In the wake of her mother's death, her family scattered and her own marriage was soon destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she made the most impulsive decision of her life: to hike the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State - and to do it alone. She had no experience as a long-distance hiker, and the trail was little more than “an idea, vague and outlandish and full of promise.” But it was a promise of piecing back together a life that had come undone.

Where does Wild rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

wow, I'm an avid listener so ranking would certainly be challenging, but I would say in the top 10%.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Wild?

Spoiler alert...When Cheryl is forced to deal with a stranger in the woods and fears for her safety, I was so scared for her.

What does Bernadette Dunne bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The narration really added to the over tone of the book. It helped me see Cheryl as her boots were maiming her feet, as she took drugs and lived a negative lifestyle, when she was feeling frisky and carefree.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

A journey of self discovery

Any additional comments?

Wonderful book ... very well written. Use that credit, you wont regret this one!!

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The story, while basically interesting, was not fully formed and did not flow. The writing was jumpy and the story line just disappointed. It really felt as though it were badly abridged. I really like the Private series, I feel connected to the characters. However, this one just left a lot to be desired.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Expand on the plot and develop the characters more fully.

Have you listened to any of Scott Shepherd’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

The narration was excellent...very smooth and easy to follow.

Where does Solomon's Song rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is the 3rd in the series and it does not disappoint.... Very near the top in my overall favorite list!

What did you like best about this story?

I love how the characters stories were interwoven, sometimes a bit fancifully, but then again, it is fiction. This third in the series contained a bit more war and bloodshed than the first two so it was not quite as entertaining as I found the others. Having said that, I still did not want it to end any more than I did the first 2!! Very entertaining and so easy to be attached to the characters.

What does Humphrey Bower bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I love the Aussie and New Zealand accents... they both lend an air of authenticity.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Oh gosh yes, just not possible

The Byzantine Fire is much more than a 90-carat ruby. As a stone it’s worth over a million dollars, a value vastly increased by its pure gold band - but its history makes it priceless. A ring that has been fought for with sword and pen, and passed from nation to nation by all manner of theft and trickery, it finally made its way to the United States. The US has agreed to return it to Turkey, but it’s about to be stolen twice more.
