Many people will remember Eric Liddell as the Olympic gold medalist from the Academy Award-winning film Chariots of Fire. Famously, Liddell would not run on Sunday because of his strict observance of the Christian Sabbath, and so he did not compete in his signature event, the 100 meters, at the 1924 Paris Olympics. He was the greatest sprinter in the world at the time, and his choice not to run was ridiculed by the British Olympic committee, his fellow athletes, and most of the world press.

This book fills in the whole story of Eric Liddell, telling the story within the context of the times in which he lived and died. Sometimes I had to back up because I'd get a little lost in who said what, there are so many people who were part of Liddell's story. Well worth the purchase

Robert Petcoff is amazing. I could easily differentiate and visualize each individual. He captures the accents and voices of familiar Star Trek characters like a voice impressionist. The storyline was interesting and kept my attention. No adolescent silliness like in some other star trek novels. Be aware to pay attention in the beginning to realize there are two Enterprise's.

What about John McDonough’s performance did you like?

I love that the Mitford series uses the same reader throughout. He has an amazing ability to make each character come to life. how can one man have so many voices!?

Any additional comments?

I found this to be one of my favorite books in the Mitford series. the characters are maturing as they should and the story is realistic to life. So glad Jan Karon added it to the series.
