Meet Ove. He's a curmudgeon - the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him "the bitter neighbor from hell". But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness.

At first I wasn't sure about this book, it started a bit slow for me, but at about two hours of listening I was totally smitten with all the characters. It made me laugh out loud and almost cry! Okay I admit it I cried! Such a different and just overall well written book!

Would you try another book from Gregory Maguire and/or John McDonough?

I think I'm done with Gregory Maguire books and this narrator sucks.

Has A Lion Among Men turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, I like fantasy books.

How could the performance have been better?

Yes, the guy sounds so theatrical I had a hard time listening to it for longer than 15 minutes at a time.
