As a longtime O&A listener, as well a loyal Anthony Cumia and A&A/TACS listener I was very hesitant to get this book. While I knew a good deal of the contents of this book, there were plenty of details that we either filled in or made more clear. Even if you think you know all things Anthony, this book is still quite enjoyable and revealing. Anthony does an excellent job reading it, and I feel like I got new insight into things like his arrest, SM firing, Jill Nicollini thing, and more. Anthony gives many details, yet keeps things classy as much as possible. He gives Opie the credit that e deserves, and provides a well rounded history of their 2 decade relationship. Skip the negative reviews, and get ready for a great listen. I may actually listen to this one again. After listening to this book, I wound up resubscribing to Compound Media for a regular dose of Anthony and Dave.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would not get this unless you are a die hard fan of the story (as I am).

What did you like best about this story?

This is a great story,because it's true.

Have you listened to any of Nicholas Pileggi’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Pileggi does a decent job as the reader, but I don't think he was the best choice.

Any additional comments?

Beware of the "actors" playing various characters. They do a horrendous job! Accents way off, inflection bad, just awful casting. I look forward to an unabridged version with a professional narrator (actor) and appropriate casting if needed. I prefer one reader doing all the characters myself.

Where does Dog on It rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is one of the better listens I've had here. If you are a dog person,or just like dogs at all,you will enjoy this book. The more of a dog person you are,the better it is.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Dog on It?

When Chet was at the shelter,I was on the edge of my seat.

Which character – as performed by Jim Frangione – was your favorite?

Chet is the star of the story.

Any additional comments?

Get this, and you won't be disappointed.

The Brotherhoods audiobook cover art

This is a great companion to "Gaspipe confessions of a mafia boss". The author of that book presents a skewed and too kind picture of Anthony Casso. "The Brotherhoods", gives a more accurate picture. The 2 main characters are horrible human beings, but the story is a great listen. I just wish the narrator would pronounce Casso's name correctly. Drove me nuts! Get it,you won't be dissapointed.

This is the second book I have listened to with this reader.I didn't realize it was him until it was too late. He has almost no inflection, and is as monotone as can be.

A great story if you like mob stories which I do. At the end, she just stops, like there was a pot boiling on the stove or something. Maybe there's a sequel in the works? I want to hear the rest dammit!

Yes there is much talk of NYC politics, and it does go into painstaking detail at times. This is all part of the building of The Great East River Bridge. This is a story of great proprtions, and of engineering at a time when talk of such a bridge was akin to science fiction today. The Brooklyn Bridge still stands tall today, and is excellent shape after almost 125 years of service. If you're even thinking of listening to this one, i say do it.

A great book and a great narrator. What more can you ask for? I only wish there were more of Melville's sea adventure books available as audio books.

Poor Audio Quality!

This book has been transferred from cassette and it shows. The audio gets louder and lower, is warbly at times, and occasionally sentences are repeated (as if someone lost their place when transferring it). Still it is a great story, and Melville paints such beautiful pictures with his writing.I wish there was a better version, but until then, don't waste your time/money/credit on this edition. Try the unabridged "Moby Dick" as read by Adams Morgan instead.
