I didn't want to listen to this horrible mess, but I couldn't stop listening. Like rubberneck to see an accident. Any new PA or Doctor should read this book. Maybe mandatory book for an ethics class.

For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand. Then the time comes when she yearns to be touched and loved. When two young men from town become intrigued by her wild beauty, Kya opens herself to a new life - until the unthinkable happens.

I read the reviews and decided to give it a go. Thank goodness I was able to get through the first chapters because it was so mellow yet so meaningful. Left me wanting to move and live like Kaya in the marsh. At the end I did not want the story to stop. Twisted turns have you holding your breath and looking for spoilers. Don’t you won’t find them. Listen and enjoy the Disney like ride thru the marsh and Kaya’s unusual life.

I am a consistent rater but not a reviewer; however, in this case I had to take the time to review. This book surpassed all of my expectations. Lisa Garner is one of my favorite authors, so when Audible sent me an email with a note from Lisa recommending this book I had to bite. I listened to another book by JT Ellison and love it too. I almost listen to this book in just one go but had to take a break to sleep. Not gonna give anything away. Don’t pass this one out. Great Narrators too.

It was a typical evening at a mall outside Portland, Maine. Three teenage friends waited for the movie to start. A boy flirted with the girl selling sunglasses. Then the shooters arrived. The chaos and carnage lasted only eight minutes before the killers were taken down. But one person wasn't satisfied with the shockingly high death toll at the DownEast Mall. And as the survivors slowly heal, find shelter, and rebuild, they will discover that another conspirator is lying in wait - and this time, there might be nowhere safe to hide.

After seeing, hearing about and reading about all the mass shooting, I felt I could not handle another 15 hrs of pro and con additional gun control, angry marches, etc. Wow was I so surprised and almost hooked from the beginning. This is one of Nora best books in recent times. I used to be a big fan, but since she has written so many that dealt with supernatural stuff, I was over and out.

When looking for something new to listen to, I saw this book and since I could find no other to interest me and in a rush to leave, I purchased it. You will love this book if you are a fan of some of her earlier book from 2011. Excellent Narrator!

This book gave me so much perspective as a 1st generation American from immigrant parents from Colombia. Love it. Thank goodness our families were not persecuted. I laughed because I hated speaking in Spanish as we were required to do. I cried listening to how cruel daughters can be as a daughter and now as a mother of adult children. Narrator was so spot on.
