When Vicksburg fell to Union forces under General Grant in July 1863, the balance turned against the Confederacy in the trans-Appalachian theater. The Federal success along the river opened the way for advances into central and eastern Tennessee, which culminated in the bloody battle of Chickamauga and then a struggle for Chattanooga. Chickamauga is usually counted as a Confederate victory, albeit a costly one.

Six Armies in Tennessee is the turning point in the trans-Appalachian theater for the Union during the Civil War. This history book touches the economics, social, and military aspect of how the Civil War affect the people living in the trans-Appalachian mountains.

The narrator, Bill Nevitt sounds like a popular university professor giving the lectures. The narrator does not put the listeners to sleep. He has a great voice.

The only suggestion, I would recommend is to buy this book especially if ones is doing a research or a thesis. Great Civil War reference book.

The Haunting of Castle Dune is an expansion of Morna's Legacy world. This time Morna is helping someone else other than family. Eleanor Ackard and Monroe Dune make great wonderful character. Two people from different time and just so different from each other. Eleanor has been counseling people toward a better future but she never has taken her own advise that she deserved better.

Monroe Dune's family has been tricked and had to live out a curse by a witch. To protect everyone at his isle, Monroe send everyone away and thought he was destined to die alone until Eleanor stowaway in his boat.

The story is quite heartwarming and sweet. The author has always really thought the story out. This is one story I would really listen again and again.

As always, the narrator, Lily Collingwood does a brilliant job narrating. I always enjoy her narration.

Talvi Marinossian has slain maenads and fought off vampire attacks, but nothing has prepared him for getting involved with one of these forbidden "modern girls". When he finally tracks down Annika it's obvious that she's changed since her recent adventure in his homeland. It's also clear that she's not ready to embrace the next chapter in her life. He tries to persuade her to open up to him, but she finds it difficult since he won't even explain how he earns a living.

The Silver Thread is the second book of Annika Brisby. Strong recommendation is to read the first book, The Flame and the Arrow first. After Annika has returned to her modern world from the fae world, her husband, Tavi followed. It wasn't exactly homecoming for either of them. Explanation have to be made to Annika's friends and family of how she suddenly married Tavi.

Annika's return was more on automatic than to deal with Tavi showing up on her front door along with one of their fairy friends. Another is to deal with the effect of the Silver Thread that is woven in both of their wedding rings. Annika and Tavi are not able to remove their wedding ring. Their lives are linked together and are still evolving.

The book did ended up in a cliff hanger. All the readers are going to want to know if Tavi will be able to save Annika in the human world.

The narrator, Nick Cracknell did a wonderful job with all of the characters. The listeners will hear the emotion from each of the characters that the narrator portrays. Hopefully, he will returned to finish the last two books in this series.

Chia Petite is back. After Red Mountainbear has made an attempt to steal her town of Charming from her, she is out with Hung Durand for being addicted to the blood offering to her vampire roommate, D’Raynged. Thinking that her only problem is trying to repair her relationship with Hung, Red returned with a vengeance to discredit her leadership in Charming.

Being on a high from her blood offering, Chia missed the detail of approving a land sale to Red. Not only is she more dependent to her blood offering to D’Raynged, to see the magically world around her and to use it to defeat Red, Chia has never considered that she might have hidden power of her own.

Will Chia be able to defeat Red, fix her relationship with Hung, and lastly overcome her blood addiction to D’Raynged? So many questions of why Red wants her town, Charming.

The narrator, Rinelle Harkin did a good job. She is quite different from the last narrator for Power Shift. I do love her Southern accent for D'Raynged. Rinelle Harkin did capture Chia's personalities from Power Shift.

I can't wait to see what next and to see if Chia will ever find out how to awaken her power and if she will ever defeat Red with Hung and her trusty friends.

I really want to give this book a 4.5 star rating but alas only whole number exist.

Love Beyond Wanting is the latest chapter of Morna's Legacy. Although this book is the second book for the "Isle of the Eight Lairds" series, it has memorable characters from the first eight books of Morna's Legacy.

This time, the story is Kate and Maddock's. Kate has shut downed emotionally after losing her hand from the fire. She is afraid to risk her heart to love and to care. Whereas Maddock has given up in finding love and to remain the fae keeper. Maddock has found hope when his friend was able to find love. Now it is time for Maddock to teach Kate to risk her heart with him.

Love this series. There is always a lesson in each books. No grandeur confrontation with the antagonist but still an enjoyable story.

Daughter of Nothing takes place in a dystopian future. Jacey and her 36 fellows scion has been told they are bound for great destiny to bring the world back to order. Each believes that when they reach their eighteen birthdays, they will be leaving the island to help mankind.

Even with a great destiny, the senior scions are curious about their parents and how they died. In order to gain any news about the outside world, they decided to pass the information to the junior scions who will take their place on the island.

The truth does have a habit of revealing itself at intervals. With the information passed on, Jaycee started to unravel the information and gather the information of what her friends know to reveal a darker, sinister plan.

The story depicts human nature. Orphans often wonder about their biological parents. Education brings independent thinking and reasoning. As mortals, each human being longs for and searches for immortality. The author captures all of this in Daughter of Nothing. The author also captures both the antagonist and protagonist's POVs.

I love the revelations when each scions discovered the truth of what is happening to them when they reach their eighteen birthday. I would love to know what happens next and how Jaycee and her friends are going to masquerade that everything is fine on the island and to find a way to save themselves.

The narrator, Nancy Peterson did a wonderful job of portraying Jacey, Vaughen, Humprey, and Dr. Carlhagen and the other minor characters such as Sensei. Hope she stays with the series unless if is from Humprey's POV.

Machine is a great bad boy military story. Bridger Thompson, a former Navy SEAL has been severely wounded. His fiance has dumped him for his best friend due to his inability to perform in bed. The Machine that was supposed to save his relationship with his fiance, was the only thing that remains of his battered life.

This would be where the story would have ended except, his Machine ended up on an amateur porn site, set up by his friend, with women being fulfilled sexually. His problem still remained with him. He couldn't get excited sexually.

Enter Dynassy Barnes, model and realty show star. Dynassy has to cleaned up her reputation for being caught on film, stepping over a homeless person, except the homeless person is a former veteran. The media portrayed her as being insensitive for stepping on the homeless person.

Two characters from different side of life. One secret, one manipulative parent, and the Machine could either destroy their relationship before it begins or true love will wins.

Machine is a great story. Love the that Nick and Eden made cameo appearance. Love the chemistry between Bridger and Dynassy with the taboo that is mentioned in the story. It has a bit of mystery regarding the Machine that is in the background of the story.

I love Aiden Snow and Alicyn Aimes as the duet narrators. The narratory Aiden Snow has a deep and sexy voice and could create an innocent voice for Dynassy. The narrator, Alicyn Aimes is the perfect voice for Dynassy.

Dirty Talk is a romance that is between Katrina (Kat) and Derek King (aka Love Whisperer). Kat has always settled for less when dating men. The last in her love life was Kevin. After finding out that Kevin has cheated on her, she sworn off men. But before she decided to swear of men for good, she called the Love Whisperer to check if she did the right thing in dumping Kevin.

Derek hearing Kat for the first time, knew there was something special about Kat. How do you keep a woman who has been hurt and wary of dating the next man? Well, Derek started wooing Kat over the phone before meeting her in person.

This story left a heartfelt Ahhh. For those who love Sleepless in Seattle, I Got Mails and While You Were Sleeping, this is a perfect read. It is with a bit more sex than the three movies but the just of the story is for where two individuals work thing out after a misunderstanding.
