Bethany is celebrating her 18th birthday in Hot Springs. If her aunt and uncle have their way she will return engaged. Her life has always been controlled, from the clothes she wears to the food she eats. She longs to be like other girls and bob her hair, raise her hemline, and learn to do the Charleston, but first she has to break free from the aunt and uncle who have kept her - and her inheritance - very close.

A young lady getting her first taste of life away from her overbearing aunt. She meets lots of new people, gets her first haircut and receives her first kiss. What a way to spend your birthday!

She may be young and naive, but the girl has a backbone. Story was well written, even if it ended a tad to early for me. Will be checking out the others in this series.

When Marine veteran Nash Ware walks into the library where shy librarian Betsy Bobbin works, she's intimidated by the handsome man who wears an eye patch and an attitude. Her car has a flat in a storm, and Nash comes to her rescue. A fight outside a bar between an angry Nash and a drunk frightens Betsy. She's fallen for him, but is it safe to fall in love with a wounded veteran with PTSD? Betsy is torn. Will love and trust win out over her fear before it's too late?

I love happy endings especially for our military heroes! Good way to pass the time on a trip. Narrator's accent seemed to change a bit while doing the same character, but I still think she did a good job.
