I read this book the year it was published and immediately fell in love with Anthony Bourdain’s writing style. I’ve sought out everything else he’s done in the subsequent years, in print and on television. I’ve listened to this particular version of Kitchen Confidential four times now. Still not tired of it.

What did I enjoy more? The lyrical weaving of the lives of interesting and lovable people? Or the lusciously described recipes and reminiscences of food that nourished their souls? This will be my most often recommended story this year.

Josh shares his most intimate and poignant moments in this humorous and touching book. Despite what could certainly be a permanent debilitating experience with Tourette's Syndrome, Josh has battled to achieve a rich, rewarding life.
