Unlucky-in-love artist Annabelle Britton decides that a visit to the seaside town of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, is the perfect way to get over her problems. But when she stumbles upon a smoky gray cat named Alastair, and follows him into a charming cottage, Annabelle finds herself in a whole spellbook full of trouble. Suddenly saddled with a witch's wand and a furry familiar, Annabelle soon meets a friendly group of women who use their spells, charms, and potions to keep the people of Portsmouth safe.

My go to is fantasy and rarely is pop culture referenced which made it all the more.. inviting. Also not far fetched. cute modern tail. as cute as a book involving a mysterias murder..

Not so very long ago, Eragon - Shadeslayer, Dragon Rider - was nothing more than a poor farm boy, and his dragon, Saphira, only a blue stone in the forest. Now the fate of an entire civilization rests on their shoulders. months of training and battle have brought victories and hope, but they have also brought heartbreaking loss. And still, the real battle lies ahead: they must confront Galbatorix. When they do, they will have to be strong enough to defeat him. And if they cannot, no one can.

Usually I'm disappointed or begging for more at the end of a book/story/series; with this book however, Christopher crossed the T's and dotted the i's. I'd be glad to know more but I'm not too heartbroken. he's left it open enough the story could easily continue, but no major cliffhangers.

The universe of the Lunar Chronicles holds stories - and secrets - that are wondrous, vicious, and romantic. How did Cinder first arrive in New Beijing? How did the brooding soldier Wolf transform from young man to killer? When did Princess Winter and the palace guard Jacin realize their destinies?

It's still the great writing we love, but the details of the rebellion and cinders (hopeful) reign was passed over a majority of the book fills in back stories of the individual characters, then jumps forward
