people were right, this book does pick up on action and it is improvement from the first book. There were couple of stretched parts and questionable things ( parts needed more story and development) but easily overlookable ..

due to reviews I was hesitant to read this. Most reviews on big websites said that it has tedious first half but picks up at the end. They were right. Although I did not find the first half that bad, mostly drama and built up. About half way the excitment ball starts rolling and only picks up speed from there towards the end. Overall good world building, good characters, and overall story.

I'll start with what I don't like.

the main character was still annoying and immature, either I'm overdosed on YA and getting tiered of teens acting dumb and being immature in their process of thinking. her flaws felt more annoying than a good build up for her growth which didn't really happen anyways.

the story: in all the hours of listening not many major plots happened, and good amount of time was wasted on little side "happennings" that didn't contribute but dragged the story. On top of that there were some plot holes (why and how questions) and the lack of weight behind characters (why are they the way they are).

I would compare this book to microwave dinner , in the end it's semi interesting but I would rather read something else.

sure it had took a while to gain momentum and there were some plot holes as well as it felt some characters needed more depth to their story, but overall interesting tale. it kept me entertained to the point that I'm considering the 2nd book. Tho she was fullish I did learn to like the main character ( what can you expect from YA). Overall it felt like the story had always something to tell.

outstanding performance from the voice actor and once again wonderful story from the author. although this was not my favorite of the Grisha series I still loved it. the author puts so much life and character it's impossible to not fall in love. I would highly recommend reading the previous books since this one builds on that and there will be spoilers.

there were couple of parts that were not as fast or "full" but The story considerably picks up at the end. 4.5 stars solid.

good story flow and decent writing. some parts did feel choppy and gappy like it was rushed and you needed a bit more story for full transition or smoother flow but overall it was entertaining ( and I don't like the "fairy" stories ). The story got my interest as it went on and made me invest in the character.

loved the writting and the story went smoothly.. not alot of empty dull moments.
the only reason a star was taken off is because it felt as some ideas and plots could of had more thought behind them... you can't just add something to the story so it would love along .. you add thing to enrich the plot. also, it might be just me.. but I'm getting tiered of teenagers doing stupid and irrational stuff.
Other than that, this was an entertaining read.

this book was entertaining. it had a solid story flow. The characters were likable and the author did a great job describing feelings and transferring emotions, my least favorite character was the main character.. she felt immature and slightly irrational which aggravated me. there were couple of chapter where the story slowed down and there were some ideas in the story that I thought could of been better of more thought was put into it, but still was mostly enjoyable. The Romance wasn't my thing but unlike some stories I read it was bearable. I would compare this book to a freeway, it wasn't a race track with twist and turns, full of action and mystery but it did get you through a smooth road at a decent pace. interesting enough to see what happens next in the next book.

If a great story is a run this book was a casual jog. the performance was good although it would of been better if there was still at least one more voice over.
Story was decent. it had a nice leasurely pace with something happening here and there. There was mixed romance and slight mystery. Although there is a lot to learn about culture, people and names the book does a good job describing and reminding the reader who's who and what's what.
I did find the girl or the character that the story mostly revolved around annoying. although she was described as smart and great thinker.. I think she was not. She was nothing special, slightly irrational and impulsive and definitely not a stand out awe character like the book tried her to be. It did feel like there were slight gaps in the story, yet it still was enjoyable.

I did not like book 1, it completely fell short of authors previous trilogy. having an extra credit I thought I'll give this one a try, very unfortunate for me this book was as dull as the first one.

at first half it did pick up and then I could not finish, 60%DNF. the world building was very unimaginative, the story was a meh, nothing to grip you. in divergent there was twist after twist, action after action, revelation after revelation. This was just a drag.
