Drums along the Mohawk, Walter D. Edmonds' masterpiece, is not only the best historical novel about upstate New York since James Fenimore Cooper, it was also number one on the bestseller list for two years, only yielding to the epic Gone with the Wind. This is the story of the forgotten pioneers of the Mohawk Valley during the Revolutionary War. Here Gilbert Martin and his young wife struggled and lived and hoped.

I love early American history and this book has it all during the American revolution. The author went out of his way to be correct it seems. As a person who grew up just south of the region that is the focus it's interesting to hear all of the local places and their historical significance. Great read for any history buffs

Doug Stanhope is one of the most critically acclaimed and stridently unrepentant comedians of his generation. What will surprise some is that he owes so much of his dark and sometimes uncomfortably honest sense of humor to his mother, Bonnie.

Great listen. I'm happy I got the Audible version for the director commentary. It's told as only Doug can. I'm sorry for his loss of Mother but he teaches you what really matters is to have fun no matter what anyone says. It's only funny if ya do it. Thanks for a great read Doug

Good premise but got lost with too much information that became trivial I got this as a free book and enjoyed it but felt like I was being spoon fed a story. Characters were very smart but didn't act like it most of the time in the story. Overall. I liked this dramatic. Telling of a story

Author Paul Torday makes his debut with this clever absurdist novel. Fisheries scientist Dr. Alfred Jones is approached by an extravagantly wealthy sheik with a novel plan. To foster goodwill, the sheik would like to introduce salmon fishing to Yemen - the same Yemen that is largely a desert - and politicians think it's a great idea.
