At the conclusion of The Mark of Athena, Annabeth and Percy tumble into a pit leading straight to the Underworld. The other five demigods have to put aside their grief and follow Percy's instructions to find the mortal side of the Doors of Death. If they can fight their way through the Gaea's forces, and Percy and Annabeth can survive the House of Hades, then the Seven will be able to seal the Doors from both sides and prevent the giants from raising Gaea. But, Leo wonders, if the Doors are sealed, how will Percy and Annabeth be able to escape?

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I had a hard time listening to this book. As many have already stated, the narrator change was an absolutely TERRIBLE thing to do. I read the reviews myself and though, "it can't be that bad." It was. Usually when listening to Rick Riordan's books you become almost a part of the story. The narration was a distraction from the creativity of the story. It was sometimes really hard to figure out which character was speaking because the inflection was missing from his voice and at times there was no change between characters. Sometimes the character would sound one way and further into the story, that character's voice would suddenly change. Also some of the accents - wow! It's was hard to listen to. I still don't really understand some of the accent choices - Southern accents were just weird sounding and a bit inappropriate for the characters. I don't think it was time well spent listening to this audible.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The House of Hades?

Honestly, it was difficult to even HEAR the beauty of the story. Unfortunately I would not be able to recommend this audio to anyone. It's too disappointing. I kept reminding myself that he's doing his best and I should appreciate that.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Nick Chamian?

Joshua Swanson - I'm actually begging for his return. Give him whatever he wants to come back. I would actually appreciate it if he re-recorded this book. I would repurchase it to hear him read it properly.

Any additional comments?

This was a difficult review to write. I don't like bashing people or criticizing someone's best efforts. On the other hand, not everyone has the same talents and abilities. Nick Chamian many be the best narrator for another series but I don't think he's suited for this one (sorry Nick).
