Great guide for the meditation practitioner
This is the best book I’ve read explaining the path to reach Samatha. It’s full of wisdom and clarity. I fully recommend it to all meditators, beginners and seasoned alike.

More than a beginner's guide...

Very clarifying book about Buddhism from an occidental point of view
Robert Wright approaches Buddhism in a way we, westerners, can understand and also he doesn’t take himself very seriously! It’s interesting and fun. He also makes the necessary connections with modern psychology to show how meditation really works. I find extremely interesting his approach to the workings of the mind from the evolutionary psychology point of view.
Great book for everyone who wants to deepen his knowledge about Buddhism and meditation.
