I understand how it feels to be worried about your drinking because for nearly 20 years I struggled with my own problem. I tried everything to stop drinking alcohol, from creating silly rules about what I was "allowed" to drink to going through torturous "dry months" and taking dangerous prescription-only medication! Absolutely nothing I tried worked until I dramatically changed my thinking.

Like many women, Clare Pooley found the juggle of a stressful career and family life a struggle, so she left her successful role as a managing partner in one of the world's biggest advertising agencies to look after her family. She knew the change wouldn't be easy, but she never expected to find herself an overweight, depressed, middle-aged mother of three who was drinking more than a bottle of wine a day and spending her evenings Googling 'am I an alcoholic?'

The Malazan Empire simmers with discontent, bled dry by interminable warfare, bitter infighting, and bloody confrontations with ancient and implacable sorcerers. Even the imperial legions, long inured to the bloodshed, yearn for some respite. Yet Empress Laseen’s rule remains absolute, enforced by her dreaded Claw assassins. For Sergeant Whiskeyjack and his squad of Bridgeburners, and for Tattersail, their lone surviving mage, the aftermath of the siege of Pale should have been a time to mourn the many dead. The story was SO SLOW for the first few chapters, and chapters are very long. The narrator read so slow too that it frustrated me to no end. Eventually the story picked up and was a solid 4.5 stars but unfortunately i could just not get used to the narrator. Voice didn't fit mood much of the time and i kept getting pulled out of the moment by unnatural excitement of narrator when depicting voice of protagonist

What made the experience of listening to World After the most enjoyable?

The first book of the series started off a little weak with fresh ideas but got better towards the end. This book in the series way exceeds the first. I am very much looking forward to the 3rd book. Love it! Also, the narrator sounds young, but she can really spin different voices :)
