Daniel Graham MacCormick - Mac for short - seems to have a pretty good life. At age 35 he's living in Key West, owner of a 42-foot charter fishing boat, The Maine. Mac served five years in the army as an infantry officer, with two tours in Afghanistan. He returned with the Silver Star, two Purple Hearts, scars that don't tan, and a boat with a big bank loan. Truth be told, Mac's finances are more than a little shaky. One day Mac is sitting in the famous Green Parrot Bar in Key West, contemplating his life....

The story was bad but the narration was worse. How does Scott Brick keep getting jobs narrating audio books?

Compelled to uncover the truth about her sister's disappearance, she heads to Key West. Within hours of her arrival a successful banker jumps to his death. Then a teenage girl whom Rachel was counseling is found brutally murdered. The ritualistic style of the killing is hauntingly similar to that used by the notorious "New Testament" serial killer—now on death row.

What would have made Dead Run better?

Neither the story or the writing was very good and the narration made both worse.

Would you ever listen to anything by Erica Spindler again?

probably not

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I really tried but couldn't finish this book. I'm still not sure what the point of the story was.
If you like a muddled mystery, hard core porn where women are victimized / brutalized and details about mutant bugs this is the book for you.

Has Shady Palms turned you off from other books in this genre?

What genre this book was aiming for...mystery? porn? science fiction?

The Profiler's Daughter is a psychologically haunting thriller that combines murder mystery, love triangle, and family intrigue in one satisfying page burner. Sky Stone was born into the wealth and privilege of Boston's oldest Brahmin family but chooses instead to follow in the footsteps of her deceased father, legendary FBI profiler Monk Stone. In the chilly morning hours before the Boston Marathon, when a beautiful university student is found strangled and mutilated, her body left at the base of Heartbreak Hill, Sky returns from self-imposed exile to investigate.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The story is ok but the narrator completely ruins any enjoyment of this book.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Gabrielle de Cuir?

Anyone! The accents are deplorable and the only explanation I can come up with for the breathless narration is she plans on using this as an audition tape to become a phone sex operator.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Extreme disappointment

I highly recommend this book to anyone suffering from insomnia. Every time I have attempted to listen to it I have fallen asleep within minutes. Honestly it doesn't even deserve one star but there isn't an option to give it a rating in the negative range.

The tone of her voice never changed. The woman that narrated this story should only be allowed to read hypnosis recordings.
