Fallon Swift, approaching her thirteenth birthday, barely knows the world that existed before - the city where her parents lived, now in ruins and reclaimed by nature since the Doom sickened and killed billions. Traveling anywhere is a danger, as vicious gangs of Raiders and fanatics called Purity Warriors search for their next victim. Those like Fallon, in possession of gifts, are hunted - and the time is coming when her true nature, her identity as The One, can no longer be hidden. In a mysterious shelter in the forest, her training is about to begin under the guidance of Mallick, whose skills have been honed over centuries.

I have been a Nora Roberts fan for a long time and once again I have fallen for another great storyline. The Doom has destroyed much and a young girl is born and destined to fight to dark and save the world. Malik teaches and guides her as she learns to harness and use her power. With the love and support of family and unlikely allies and friends she gains along the way she starts to form the army of soldiers that will rally to fight and destroy the dark. So many great scenes in this story it is hard to choose just one. Like so many of Nora's series, she cannot cover this world and the battles and challenges in just one or two books. So I will wait patiently for the next phenomenal story to come!

Such an amazing and wonderful journey into a land far away, and the reader is exceptional. This is a story of two people who are prisoners of a hedonistic empire. He is a gladiator and she is a fire witch. He captures her for his ultimate revenge and they experience trials and tribulations that force them closer together. Their story is beautifully written and worth taking the journey.

Towns like Vicki's have no distance from the Others, the dominant predators that rule most of the land and all of the water throughout the world. It began on New Year's Eve. The sickness came on suddenly, and spread quickly. The fear spread even faster. Within weeks, everything people counted on began to fail them. The electrical grid sputtered; law and government collapsed - and more than half of the world's population was decimated. Where there had been order, there was now chaos. And as the power of science and technology receded, magic rose up in its place. Some of it is good, like the witchcraft worked by Lana Bingham, practicing in the loft apartment she shares with her lover, Max.

As a long time Nora Roberts fan I am excited for the stories to come in this series. The story starts out with tragic and violent deaths brought on by The Doom. Then there are the separate and distinct lives of the survivors including Lana and Max, Arliss and Fred, and Rachel, Will and Simon, and the others. Their lives intertwine and and fate bring them together and tear them apart. The world has changed and a new beginning starts with the birth of a precious baby. What is to come? Who will survive? Who will stand against evil and bring forth the good? Thank you Ms. Roberts for a fabulous story. Thank you Ms Whelan for bringing these characters to life!

All I can say is that when I first started listening to this story I thought that I wasn't sure if I would enjoy this YA book. I found some of the writing a bit simple and the expressions somewhat childish for teenagers of this age. But I love stories of dragons and lore and quests and destiny, and decided to continue listening. I'm glad I did because I found that I became invested in the characters. Though somewhat predictable I still enjoyed the book and plan on listening to the next one.

Charley navigates her latest quest with dogged determination. How can she find and save Reyes? Can she save him? Is it too late? Who can and will help her? Will she allow those she loves so dearly to help her and at what cost? Will God and or Michael allow her to save Reyes? How do they factor into this situation? I won't answer these questions because that can only be answered by listening to this story unfold page by page. I love Charley and though she is The Reaper, I love her humanity and frailty, not to mention her strength. Like my headline states, the trouble is that I can never get enough of Charley and her own self-discovery, of her relationship with Reyes and her family and friends. I believe that Lorelei King's performance makes Charley seem real and Darynda Jones never fails to keep me engaged to the end and craving more.

I don't know where John Conroe gets his ideas but the worlds and characters he creates are actually believable. Of course the stories come alive through James Patrick Cronin amazing abilities. I hope and expect another book will be forthcoming and eagerly await its release.

This is my kind of book. I thoroughly enjoyed this charming and endearing romance. The story is set in the early 12th Century in Scotland when women are given to men as chattel. An English baron does not pay his taxes to King Henry and loses two daughters to the Scots as repayment. The Scots detest the English and the English think the Scots are barbarians. But one strong-willed, determined young lady manages to start wars, win hearts and unite klans. The story is engaging all the way to the end and the performance is simply amazing.
