A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband Gabriel returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety.

The narrator did a great job.

This book was so horrendous that I had to FORCE myself to finish. I have a rule about not finishing books, and I almost broke my own rule!

The narrator was stale, monotonous, and lacked the ability to hold the listener's attention.

The storyline is predictable and lacking excitement. Every lesson or key part turns into a bible lesson (yes, I am a believer). Every character other than the villain has a happy ending.

This book was the top ten worst.

Jeannette Walls grew up with parents whose ideals and stubborn nonconformity were both their curse and their salvation. Rex and Rose Mary Walls had four children. In the beginning, they lived like nomads, moving among Southwest desert towns, camping in the mountains. Rex was a charismatic, brilliant man who, when sober, captured his children's imagination. Rose Mary painted and wrote and couldn't stand the responsibility of providing for her family; she called herself an "excitement addict."
