John Parker-Roth cannot believe that marriage is necessary for his happiness. He would far rather pursue his interest in horticulture, but if one day he should find a female who shared his passion for flowers - a level-headed, calm sort of female - he might reconsider. Certainly the lovely young woman who has just tumbled into his lap will not do, as she possesses neither of those admirable qualities. Yet Miss Margaret Peterson does have many things in her favor.

As the landlord of The Dragon's Lair and leader of The Black Dragons Motorcycle Club, Axel Carmichael has seen it all and done it all. He's a respected and experienced dom. Nothing shocks him anymore, and nobody catches him off guard. When Bayden rides up to The Dragon's Lair on a bike worth more than most men earn in a year, and immediately demonstrates that he has far more attitude than sense, it's easy for Axel to write him off as a silly little rich boy who's about to get himself killed.

There is literally nothing worth your time here. The narrator went to the a William Shatner school of acting, and the book is... Well. If you like the feeling of romance novels written in the 1980s where the woman is one-dimensional & useless and the men toss her around like she's a doll, and you also eschew facts & research & accuracy, then this is the book for you!

Why is profitable growth so hard to achieve and sustain? Most executives manage their companies as if the solution to that problem lies in the external environment - find an attractive market, formulate the right strategy, win new customers. But when Bain & Company's Chris Zook and James Allen (authors of the best-selling Profit from the Core) researched this question, they found that when companies fail to achieve their growth targets, 90 percent of the time the root causes are internal, not external.

Lady narrators who try and pitch men's voices low always hit the same pitfall - it limits the vocal range, and therefor limits the emotional range, making the male characters seem flat. This narrator also ended every sentence of the leading man with a downward swoop, which didn't help.

This does not, however, account for the fact that every female character fit into two archetypes: the Bitch or the Bubblehead. Which makes me so sad! Women are amazing and complex, and should be written as such.

I'm usually pretty easygoing about romance novels, but the best I can give this one is a solid 'Meh.' It was largely what we in fandom call 'dubious consent', which is something to be warned for because it can be terribly unpleasant. And the narrator waa so over the top it took me out of the story every five minutes - I mean, the guy treated orgasms like touchdowns. So... Meh.

After all, it isn't as if the brooding rogue has any real plans to marry - though there is something about the alluring Miss Bridgerton that sets Simon's heart beating a bit faster. And as for Daphne, surely the clever debutante will attract some very worthy suitors now that it seems a duke has declared her desirable.
