I have always been fascinated by the history of the British monarchy. I live in Mexico and when I was a child Queen Elizabeth came on a state visit. The elementary school that I attended was a British one, it was quite small but somehow my British teachers managed to have the queen visit our school! Every morning we would sing God Save The Queen and the Mexican Anthem but that day it would be special... weeks before she came, we were taught how to greet her and that morning I sang louder and with more heart than ever before, plus I was the flag bearer as we marched, it was an extraordinary occasion. She was so gracious and beautiful!! I will never forget that she shook the hands of several of us and asked a couple of polite questions, and ever since then I admire this brilliant lady and love her as if I was British myself.
Listening to this book touched me, amazed me, fascinated me! The story of this sovereign is fantastic and it is written and narrated in a way that gripped me.
What else can I say? I just hope that God continues to Save the Queen!

Oh! And by the way, do go ahead and listen to this book, I can assure you that you will thoroughly enjoy it even if it's not the most updated story of her majesty the queen and the royal family, I know that I will listen to it again.

What a time to have existed! What a time to fear breathing, dreaming, or even being “loved”.
Ms. Gregory, as always, gives us a fascinating story. Though fiction it may be it is still kind of terrifying.

I particularly enjoyed the performance of the character of Katherine Howard but not so much that of Anne of Cleves which, I found a bit older than the character itself.

Overall, a great read/listen.

Enjoy!!

This has been my first ever Sophie Kinsella experience and it was a good one!
The story is good and fun to listen to, albeit a little (or very) cruel at times; nonetheless, it all makes perfect sense in the end.
Mis Hardingham’s narration is Delightful (with a capital D) and brought to life every character in the story in a very enjoyable way. I guess Sophie Kinsella + Fiona Hardingham = the perfect audiobook team.

So, having had such a nice experience with this book I will look for another one of its kind, hopefully with great results.

Definitely recommend “My Not So Perfect Life: A Novel” to anyone who’s up for a nice time.

I promise I wanted to like this book but after the first 15 minutes, it was very obvious that I won't. It may be a good story but unless they record it again with another narrator, I will never know.

Because I bought the trilogy together and had never listened to Lydia Look I didn't know how bad she is. Then I literally endured the second book of the trilogy "China Rich Girlfriend" but the narrator made it an excruciating torture. I started listening to this one without even realizing that the narrator is the same person from the previous book. OH NO!!! I don't know whether it is the director of the recording or Lydia Look or both, but this torture is stopping right now!
Why does Ms. Look think that she has to explain every single word and passage? We are trying to enjoy a story, not intending to be taught some lesson! Frankly, beyond annoying, it becomes almost an insult to the listener when one realizes that through her narration Ms. Look seems to deem the public ignorant or a fool.

Please, Audible, Mr. Kwan, and any and every other person involved in the production of these titles. Look for another narrator!!! Or send this woman to narrating school, but don't make us pay for such horrible "narration". It is impossible to enjoy a book in these conditions.

I like the heart of Tyra Banks and now we know who it takes after.

This is a fun and entertaining book. It had its more emotional, touching moments and it also had a couple of bits that I reckon are more directed towards young girls who look at Ms. Banks as a role model.
I was actually hoping for a "deeper" or more "adult" read, but all in all, it didn't disappoint.

It is read by her mom and herself and they are a perfect pair, (many narrators ought to get a tip or two from them).

Being a light, good read, I do recommend it but don't expect a piece worthy of the Literature Nobel Prize.

I started listening to this book as the second one in the trilogy and was hoping to have as much fun as I did with the first one, unfortunately... so far -five hours into it- I haven't.
The story is probably a good sequel to Crazy Rich Asians, but to be frank, the narrator, Lydia Look is so bad that it makes it almost impossible to follow what is happening. I suppose that Ms. Look was trying to do a good job but being a good storyteller doesn't require an attempt at dubbing a bunch of voices and accents that even she mixes up and at times doesn't realize she has gotten lost in a myriad of characters; these, of course, include the most annoying one that she makes whenever she is supposedly just the 'narrator' where she resorts to something like sounds like an airport announcer that is certain that she holds the absolute truth of everything.
Unfortunately, Ms. Look's very pretentious and bad performance spoils any possibility of enjoyment of this book.

I wonder if the author or Audible ever listened to this before publishing it.
And to think I still have 10 hours of this torture to go!!! Perhaps I won't be able to finish it.

Anyway, perhaps someone else will be able to enjoy it. Happy, patient, listening, if you do.

I have so many crazy rich Asian friends that listening to this book was just like listening to them! And yes, I could see so much of their lifestyle and way of being pictured here!
I really enjoyed it and am about to listen to the next book as soon as I post this review.

Regarding the narrator, Miss Lynn Chen does a very good job. She is obviously Asian and listening to her speaking the few Mandarin words made me feel immediately as though I was amongst my friends; however, I have rated her 4 stars because sometimes she would mispronounce some French names or brands that are very well known and there were a couple of instances where she mixed up the voices of the characters and I got a bit confused. Still, her voice is very nice and her tone and pace are just adequate.

Yes, I do recommend this book. It won’t change the world but you will get some hours of fun listening to it.

I used to like Mr. Cumming as an actor but now, after reading Not My Father’s Son: A Memoir, I admire him as a man.
I may be slightly biased only because I could see myself in his story in so many ways... but then again, even if yours is completely different, that’s what happens when a person opens their heart and shares with you their life story, and this is so honest and raw, and real -and well written- that it’s impossible not to connect with him and take a look at one’s own life. We are but human after all, as they say in Thailand “same, same but different”, yet in the difference of the sameness lies the beauty of this reality check. I suspect that that wasn’t Alan Cumming’s intention upon writing his memoir but in doing so he may very well help each of us heal or make peace with some passage of our life.
My deep gratitude to Mr. Cumming for “Not My Father’s Son”, and to all those who were involved in some way in making it happen. I thank you for touching my life in this way.

And this is one of them.

I must say that I love Alison Weir’s accounting oh British history and The Lady Elizabeth is written in a fascinating way.
This book, even though a novel, is based mainly on true facts and it helped me understand-and even feel sorry, may I say- [for] the reasons that made Queen Elizabeth I act the way she did throughout her life. Undoubtedly a remarkable woman it must not have been easy to overcome all the things that consistently marked -and imperiled- her even as a child and well into adulthood so that she could become the sovereign that she was.
If you like this theme you Must read (listen) to The Lady Elizabeth.
(I must confess that I will listen to it again)

Rosalyn Landor does a great job narrating the story, she has a pleasant voice and perfectly outlines each passage and character.

This was a most enjoyable experience that I didn’t want to end.

I enjoyed it and made me feel even more grateful for living in this era as opposed to the Victorian one, plus it made me appreciate even more the lives of my female ancestors and all the women who lived at that time.

If I were you, I would read (listen to) it just for kicks or out of mere curiosity. Enjoy!
