When a letter from his supposedly deceased mother finds its way into his hands, life changes in an instant for international pop star Bodhi Beckett. Reeling from the deception of those closest to him, Bodhi spirals out of control and is sent to a secluded mansion in the coastal mountains of Southern California for some rest and relaxation. But the retreat proves to be anything but relaxing when a raging wildfire sets the landscape around him ablaze. While escaping the flames, Bodhi rescues Breeze, a quirky, pet-loving woman, and together the two fight their way to safety.

No truer words have been spoken about a book. The first line in the blurb provided says it all...

“Prepare to laugh, cry, and fall in love with this enthralling new romance from J. Bengtsson!“

I went into the audible of Like the Wind not knowing the author or much else of the book. Just an eye-catching cover and a curiosity. Wow, I am I ever glad I did. From the very beginning, I was captured by the voice of Bodhi (Shane East). Side note, I love this narrator.

Within the first few hours of listening I’d laughed AND cried. It was a beautiful emotional read, yet at times it was a belly laugh. The kinship and banter between Breeze and Bodhi are contagious. I was always left wanting more. Feeling an irritation when I couldn't get back to my book fast enough. The story is imaginative and the outlying side characters, canine and human, add a flavor and texture that made listening an absolute dream. As I said before, I am left wanting more. I hope this standalone is just the beginning for a long-running series.

I have been thoroughly charmed and caught in a spell spun by Christine Amsden. I am not sure what I expected of Cassie Scot but what I got was a lovable and charming character that has won me over. Cassie a “Marilyn Munster” in a magical family has to carve her own way. When nothing is done for the simple reason of favor but has repercussions and debts to be paid, it can be a little tricky. Cassie runs her own detective agency and works with her former boss the police chief to solve magical and cases.

When a client comes into the office with hopes of Cassie serving a subpoena to a love potion making witch thing go from easy to puzzling when Cassie finds a dead body. Only the dead body turns out to be cousin to a powerful and childhood friend/crush Evan. A sorcerer that is rumored to place love spells on the women he meets. They begin to work together to find out who is behind the murders and quickly become gossip.

Added to the mayhem is a crazy and magical family that all live together in one house. All of Cassie’s siblings have magical ability. It is a wildly funny and chaotic atmosphere. All is not perfect in this household. Feeling less than and not good enough has plagued Cassie since childhood and continues.

Cassie struggles to figure out who she is and who she can trust. It’s hard with so many secrets and lies swirling around. Cassie is beginning to realize someone wants her dead. Who will help her? Who will cast her aside and who can she trust?

Such a good story that when I finished I immediately searched for book 2. Sadly we will have to wait till November. ((sad face)) I want it now mummy!

All about our brother Phury right? Nope meet the Wizard. Oh boy this one kept us on our toes. I had whiplash keeping up with all the storylines going on in this one. Guess what LOVED IT! Phury had to battle his own demons and forget about his brother Z’s. Also forget about his brothers Shellan too. Our Lovely Cormia took care of that.

But really this one is a story of recovery on so many levels. Phury was and is one of my favs. His journey has been a long one and I am happy he has had his time to shine and get over being the martyr. So much in this one and if I go on I will say too much! As much as this one is about Phury, it isn't. I know many reviewers were a bit mad and thinking Phury was kind of robbed of his story. Due to so many storylines. I didn't feel this way at all. I like it very much. I like feeling updated and connected with all the BDB.

Now the good stuff, a list of my favorite moments. Hopefully not to spoilery.

Vishous, son of the Bloodletter. Our tech geek, BDSM lover and all around bad ass with he hand of fire. This is one of my favorites in the BDB series. There is so much going on. I really do enjoy the fact that J.R. Ward is a writer that keeps her family fresh in all her books. Her characters don't fade to black they keep it rich.

V and Jane's story is at the heart of Lover Unbound but I really am left feeling filled up with so much love and info on all my vamps in Caldwell. There were Lessers but not the usual back and forth with all the "letter heads" as I call them. This, I feel, made Lover Unbound so much better. We keep it in the family so to speak.

Butch O'Neal is a fighter by nature. A hard-living ex-homicide cop, he's the only human ever to be allowed in the inner circle of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. And he wants to go even deeper into the vampire world-to engage in the turf war with the lessers. His heart belongs to a female vampire, Marissa, an aristocratic beauty who's way out of his league. And if he can't have her, then at least he can fight side by side with the Brothers.

He will man up or shall I say vamp up o get his woman with just a little help from his brethren. We get to see bits from Butch’s past. This helps us see who and why he is the way he is.

The Lessers are still a major problem and in helping the brothers he becomes injured. In saving him he will be changed forever.

Welcome to Caldwell, New York. The would be king of the vamps lives here. It’s a twist in the usual storyline as the brotherhood is the protectors of their race. The Lessers are the bad guys. The Glimmera are the social elite snobs and humans are fodder pretty much unaware. This race of vampires feeds on each other. Well, the ladies that is. No humans are consumed in this version.

Wrath is asked by his fellow brother Darius to protect and help his daughter Beth. First, he refuses, but when Darius is killed Wrath steps in. Little did he know what would befall him. Beth is transitioning and coming into her own vampire heritage. She knows nothing of this world or her father. What she thinks she knows will all be torn away with the truth of her new world coming into focus.

This book lays down the floor plan for the entire series. We meet the brothers and get a good dose of personality from each.
